Advantages: Hygene and appearance.
Disadvantages: Over priced for what they are.
Introduction:
I stumbled across the Joseph Joseph range after buying a bowl set from them. The colours and funky designs lured me in and the next item I spotted was this chopping board set. Once again design ruled my brain over price and affordability and I ordered this set.
Price and availability:
There are a couple of different sets, a smaller one and a more extensive one. I spent £40 on the cheaper one from Amazon which included free delivery. I have also seen them for sale in John Lewis and House of Fraser.
Product:
The product itself looks great in my opinion. It is set up to be like a rectangular folder with dividers poking out of the top. Each divider is a different coloured plastic chopping board, with the edge of the divider being a picture showing what you should use each board for, E.G. fish, meat, bread. In the bigger set you get more dividers and in the smaller one less.
The chopping boards themselves are plastic and rectangular and about 0.5cm thick. They, like all other plastic chopping boards scratch relatively easily, so as soon as you buy them they no longer look brand new. I have had them over a year though now and they show no signs of needing replacing.
The chopping boards are really easy to wash. I either spray them with a disinfectant spray, or dunk them fully in my sink and wash them with hot water and washing up liquid, they always come up clean.
Conclusion:
I love the look of these chopping boards and they are ones which you don't mind keeping out on your work surface, you don't feel like you have to hide them away. If you look at it purely as what they are, then yes they are expensive and over priced!
Another point to add is that these are hygienic. Separating boards for different types of food is a great idea and something that is easier to do when prompted, like these boards do for you.
Summary: Funky boards for the kitchen.
