“ Brand: California Innovations / Product Type: Lunch Box „
When my children go back to school I do allow them to choose a new lunchbox each, this due to them claiming that they no longer like the box they had six weeks previously....yeah right!
My daughter picked a lovely and funky looking lunch bag, which was much cheaper than I would normally pay, so I was hoping my son would follow suit, which thankfully he did!
After a quick look in Asda (of course), he decided he would quite like the camouflage lunch bag, this was solely due to there being a net on the side of it to put his extra water bottle that the younger children at his school have to take, especially in the warmer weather!
The lunch bag itself is a stand up design, with there being the net on one side, a large zip across the top to get the lunch easily enough in and out, a nice long strap that can be adjusted for comfort (I have made it longer so Connor can where it across his chest, which he has now shortened so Mummy can carry it over her handbag!).
There is finally a flap that Velcro's over the top of the zip to make it look nice and tidy.
The inside of the bag is large enough to fit a bottle in (standing up), with all the rest of the lunch fitting around it perfectly, without anything getting squashed.
With the water bottle being slotted into the side net (again this fits snuggly enough that it does fit, but doesn't fall out), it does make the bag side heavy, not noticeable when being carried, but will make the bag fall onto one side when placed on the lunch trolley, so I try and counter balance it with his pop bottle inside, this usually works!
The lining of the bag is easy enough to clean, and does need cleaning everyday due to the school running a policy where all food scraps left or uneaten food is returned home after school to show the parents what has been eaten during the day, my sons bag is usually filled with cheese spread and yoghurt, not a nice combination!
The lining is also impregnated with a "microbial protection" layer, which means that for the lifetime of the lunch bag the lining will prevent any bacteria from growing, though it will only prevent the bacteria that causes stains and odours, not stop any food borne diseases.
You should still wash the lunch bag thoroughly at all times, but this will not strip any of the treatment from the lining.
