I had had piping bag after piping bag, which had split. Both disposable and reuseable ones, and niether seemed to last. I was reluctant about using reuseable ones anyway because of the germs. I was sick of buying the same obnes over and over and having no faith they would work, so I asked my Mum to buy me a more long term solution for my brithday. I was so delighted when I received this set, I had never even seen anything like it before and I couldn't wait to get to using it.
The set comes in a very sturdy thick plastic box, which really does last. It consists of a stainless steel piping 'gun' which you fill up with your butter icing (for example). You then push the end into place to fill any holes and get any air gaps out, as these would ruin your icing otherwise. You then pull the trigger and ice away. It is straightforward once you have got the hang of it, but I would certainly expect to have a few practises before you have mastered it! The stainless steel barrel screws in at both ends. One to the nozzle end and one to the trigger end, this again can be a bit fiddly, but easy once you have practised.
The piper comes with a variety of nozzles, for different effect, whatever you do, dont put the piper face down and press the end (when you are setting it up, getting the air bubbles out) as this will squash the end of the nozzle and you won't be able to use it!
There are also round disks you can put in which have different pictures on them. They are for decoarting biscuits etc.
This piping set has been an invaluable addition to my kitchen, and I will hopefully use it for many years to come. If you like baking cakes you should buy one of these. You will never look back!
The whole of this can go in the dishwasher and be washed at high heat, which is great for removing the germs and the greasiness of the icing!
The set costs around ten pounds, brand new, from Amazon, which is a bargain in my opinion.
