I initially got this brush to clean my potatoes with. We grow a few vegetables in the garden and one of the easier items in my opinion to grow is potatoes. We grow the little ones that are perfect for salads or boiling and as such I don't like to peel off the skin, I like to keep the nice skin on them which to me is the best bit as it is full of nutrients. As such I needed something though to clean off the potatoes with as when you pull them out of the ground they are very dirty and muddy.
This brush works perfectly for scrubbing the potatoes. It is fairly small and the short handle fits really well in the plan of your hand. You then, in my opinion have better control over the brush which is what you want when you are cleaning small vegetables.
There are five rows of quite hard white bristles which are short but quite concentrated so you get a good hard brush which is what you want when you are cleaning dirt off vegetables as it is often quite tough to get off. There is a hook at the end of the handle so you can hang it up if you want to but I just keep mine in a draw with all the other utensils.
I now use this to clean other vegetables that I keep the skin on such as courgettes and those cute little fancy carrots. The brush is easy to wash, I just put it in the washing up liquid bowl with all my other cutlery and items and I find the dirt comes out of the bristles well.
The brush is available from Cookingtime and costs £3.75.
