      Advantages

      Disadvantages

No more damaged cupcakes when transporting them

I recieved this 12 cup muffin pan with a lid from Lakeland from the girls at work as a birthday gift.
I love to bake cupakes and regularly take them into work to share, to stop myself from eating all 12 as my husband doesn't really have a sweet tooth.
I would normally just put the cupcakes in a tin or a tupperware container to carry to work, but occasionally the frosting on top of the cupcakes would get bashed or squashed as the tin or container was not really deep enough.
This is the perfect solution to that!
It's a 12 cup muffin tin, with an added plastic lid with 2 carry handles. It's brilliant!

I just use the muffin tin to bake the cupcakes as normal, then take them out of the tin and put them on a wire rack to cool. Once the cupcakes are cool I put them back into the tin to frost them, I think that it's better to put them back in the tin to frost them as it stops any damage to the frosting when you are then moving the frosted cupcakes to the tin.
Once the frosting is complete you just need to put the plastic cover over the top of the muffin tin to store them and transport them. The plastic cover has 2 plastic clips at the shorter ends which clip over the edges of the muffin tin to lock the two parts together for safe transporting. The lid sits quite high off the muffin tin itself so there is no risk of any of the frosting being damaged or squashed. The lid has 2 large carry handles which do fold back flat against the lid when not in use. The lid is a white creamy plastic enabling you to see through to the contents inside.

I have had absolutely loads of use out of this, it works perfectly, no damaged cupcakes or frosting anymore. It was a brilliant gift that is so usefull. I can't reccomend this highly enough if you ever bake and take cupcakes somewhere.

A handy two in one oven and storage device

Well last week I had one of those shopping days when I just went all out and bought everything that I saw that I liked. I am suffering this week for it though it has to be said. This amazing cake tin was one of my many purchases. I was looking to buy a 12 cup muffin tin anyway and then I saw this one with the see through lid attached to it for £11.99 which I thought was a bit of a bargain for a 2 in 1 oven and storage device.

        ***Dimensions of the cake tin***

37 by 25 by 8cm, the height including the lid is 8.5cm

***How it is to be used***

Like any muffin tin you put cake cases in each hole and you divide your cake mixture up between each one. Obviously the cake tin goes in the oven without the see through lid.

Then once your cakes are removed from the oven I took a knife around the edge of each muffin case to detach any slightly stuck cakes so they could cool in the oven tray without being removed. However doing it this way does mean that it takes a little longer for your cakes to cool down because they are in the boiling hot oven tin. However I prefer to leave them in there to save the hassle of taking them out to cool and then putting them back in to store with the see through lid placed on top.

The lid is attached by a slide across closure thing (can't quite think how to describe it- I'm sure the word will come to me once I have finished writing it) which is on both sides of the see through lid. What I also love about the lid is that it has a small carry holder on top perfect for carrying round if you are baking for elsewhere outside of your home.
It is just such a convenient case that prevents more washing up since you no longer require the cooling racks and a separate storage tin.
The tin is also deep enough that it does not spoil any icing decorations which are on top of the cakes.

For £11.99 this is really reasonable. Lakeland always seem to manage to come up with all the right handy gadgets for around the home. I haven't bought anything from Lakeland before this purchase but after all the other bits I have seen and loved in their catalogue I think I will be taking numerous trips back their... once I have more money that is!
5 out of 5 stars - a great time saver!
