“ Brand: Lakeland / Product Type: Cutter „
I am absolutely obsessed with kitchen and household products and as sad as it is to admit I look forward to receiving my Lakeland catalogue to peruse it and see what new products they have on offer. Like with Avon I can't seem to resist buying more than I should and I now have tons of Lakeland products cluttering up my drawers and cupboards. Some of the things I buy end up never being used again but some end up becoming firm favourites used time and time again.
The dino cutter is one of those products that I use all the time. I originally bought it for my daughter years ago but she is now too old and cool for it but my son absolutely adores it. The dino cutter is a pretty basic product and is exactly what you would think it is from the name. It is a cutter in the shape of a dinosaur used to cut sandwiches/toast/cookies etc. and in the case of my son anything else he can think of which might be able to be cut.
It is made from a green plastic and is very durable and there are no cracks or breaks in it even though I have used it loads in the time I've had it. The size of the cutter is perfect for use with normal sized slices of bread and afterwards there isn't too much waste except for the crusts which my son refuses to eat anyway.
The cutter part isn't very sharp so my son can use this himself if he is feeling helpful but it is surprisingly easy to cut through sandwiches even if they are filled.
It can be put in the dishwasher to clean or else just rinsed under the tap if there is no mess on it.
I remember only paying a couple of pounds for this cutter which was a bargain considering how much it has been used and how much my children have enjoyed having their sandwiches cut in a dinosaur shape.
There isn't really a lot more to say about this cutter. It is such a simple product but one that will bring a lot of joy to kids and help to liven up parties and lunchboxes.
I have this little Lakeland dinosaur sandwich cutter which I purchased in order to cut out fun sandwiches for my little nephew when he stays over. He is absolutely dinosaur mad and so I figured he would love it. It's certainly a lot more interesting than just cutting the sandwich into quarters.
I've had this for quite a while now, but I think that it was around £1.99. The dino cutter is dishwasher safe.
This is fairly sturdy and easy to use, the dino cutter is quite deep so it will easily cut right through a sandwich including the filling and stamp out two little dinosaurs. The top of the dino cutter has a slight lip on it to make it easier to handle. especially when lifting it back up after you have stamped your dino sandwiches out. It is sized for a typical sandwich loaf, and doesn't leave much waste, literally just the crusts (which I then end up eating, so that they don't go in the bin!). It's a plastic cutter so it's safe for little hands, he normally likes to help to cut out his own dinosaurs, and this is safe for him to do so.
I've actually ended up using this for lots of things; I also use this for toast, he gets little toast dinosaurs to go with a boiled egg for breakfast, I've used it to make dinosuar cookies, dinosaur brownies, dinosaur pancakes, dinosaur french toast, dinosaur pastry shapes, the list is endless really. I've have had no problems at all with this, it cuts out perfectly every single time, it's been in the dishwasher more times than I care to remember, and there is absolutely nothing wrong with it at all.
They was a great little purchase and it has had a lot more use than I thought it would. I've probably created a rod for my own back though as when he stays with us he wants everything cut into the shape of a dinosaur. There's generally always lots of dinosuar roaring during mealtimes as well!
Wow! <<<<< That says it all! No need to write anything else just simply >>>>> Wow!
My nan bought this dinosaur shaped cutter from Lakeland paying £2.49, she bought other stuff as well but she did buy this for me.... Well for the kids!
I am so impressed with this, it isn't just for sandwiches it can be used for anything that can be cut. It's made from a strong clear green plastic and cut's through a ham sandwich with ease and takes the crusts off which is a bonus as my kids refuse to eat crusts....
My 4 year old is fasinated with this, sandwiches, pizza, toast have all been dino shaped since this has come to our house. And importantly it's got my fussy eater, eating really well!
He finds food fun now and will eat everything on his plate, my 8 year old also loves it and my 10 year old thinks I am mad when I give him dino shaped sarnies! I'll have to do them for his packed lunch one day hehe!
When pressed into a sandwich you are left with two dinosaur shaped sarnies with no crusts.
Fab for kids and adults, as I quite like the novelty of having shaped sarnies too!
It is dishwasher safe.
I bought one of these when shopping in Lakeland in Bluewater - I just loved the look of it and thought it would make sandwiches more interesting.
The cutter was only £1.99 and is green plastic but easily fits nearly any slice of bread with minimum wastage. Other cutters I have seen wastes a lot of the bread - this cutter mainly misses out the crusts which most children do not want to eat anyway!
You literally place it on top of a slice of bread and you press down - cutting out two perfect little dinosaur shaped sandwiches!
I have used this with sandwiches toasted and untoasted, also with french toast and with cookies! All have come out in the perfect dino shape. I have even just done indentations in the bread rather than cutting completely through for my Husband (who just looked at me in amusement!)
For the price of this item, it is well made and is dishwasher proof - so even saves on washing up! It is even safe for children to use as there are no sharp edges - so lots of fun in the kitchen!
I would not recommend using this if you have a lot of filling in your sandwich though as it was difficult to push down. For your normal childrens sandwiches it will work perfectly fine.
I don't have kids, but being a big kid inside I saw this and just had to have it, and realised I would need to explain such an obscure purchase to my hubby later! It was at this point I realised not only kids get an odd thrill from their sandwiches looking like dinosaurs. Despite being 26, I've never seen him so gleeful about a sandwich!
The cutter is solid and well made, entirely of plastic so there are no worries about children using it and injuring themselves. It is also very well designed, I've tried this on a few different brands of bread and it goes to the edges, with an absolute minimum of waste.
It's not just good for sandwiches either, you can use this for cookies, or as I've taken to doing - making dinosaur shaped eggy bread (call me childlike, but I quite enjoy sticking my eggy bread in a baked bean pond and reacreating the land that time forgot!). I've even used it to make two little cheesecakes one night. After you're done cooking and playing, it sticks in the dishwasher and is as good as new.
The cutter is only £1.99 from Lakeland, which for a sturdy item, even one with a bit of novelty value, is a great price. I would love to see some more designs in the range (if they bring out a penguin one I might never eat normal shaped food again!) but I really can't think of a negative thing to say about this cutter.
I am so impressed with this sandwich cutter that I just HAD to review it!!
It is shaped like a dinosaur and easily cuts sandwiches into the shape of 2 dinosaurs.
Well of course you are not restricted to sandwiches, you can use it for whatever you want; cookies, toast, mash and even cheese slices have all been dino'd in my house!
This product really is perfect in every way! It is easy to use, fits a slice of bread exactly-therefore not much waste, literally just the crusts, cuts beautifully without the cutter having a dangerously sharp edge and oh so easy to clean! I put mine in the dishwasher and it comes out fine every time!
This is a must have for fussy kids, you wont see them disecting their sandwiches anymore, and there will be no more crusts left for you to clean out their lunch box!
Less fuss for everyone and much better than spending a fortune on bread with no crusts!!!
This cutter is great for everyday use but even better for parties, especially dinosaur themed ones! There will not be a sandwich in sight at the end!
The cutter is exclusive to Lakeland and costs £1.99- a bargain if you ask me! It is made from a really durable plastic and comes in a dinosaur shade of green!
There are no negatives at all about this product, however more designs would be great, especially more girly styles.
I bought a Lakeland Dino Cutter a few months ago, after spotting it in their catalogue that I have sent to me several times a year. I really like Lakeland's products and enjoy looking through the catalogue for new and innovative products. I went to my nearest Lakeland shop, at Handforth in Cheshire, to purchase the cutter, which cost £1.95.
The Dino Cutter is made of green plastic and consists of two dinosaur shapes together, so you can make two sandwiches or pieces of toast at the same time. I bought it for my two year old daughter, who is a fan of Peppa Pig and her little brother George (who is also mad about dinosaurs). The Dino Cutter has proved to be very popular, with my daughter asking for dinosaur toast or sandwiches quite often. We have also used the cutter to make dinosaur shaped biscuits - with my daughter being very keen to help out with cooking and baking now that she getting a bit older. It could also be used to cut out shapes from pastry too, to put on a pie.
I have only washed the Dino Cutter by hand, so I am not sure if it will go in the dishwasher. It is strong and durable, though you do need to push down quite hard to ensure that it cuts through toast or wholemeal bread in particular, as this has a more dense texture than white bread.
I am really glad that I bought the Dino Cutter, as we have had a lot of use from it, and the price is very reasonable. Lakeland also stock a wide range of other biscuit and sandwich cutters. See lakeland.co.uk for more details.
The Lakeland Dino cutter is a fantastic product. My mother in law bought this back for my 2 year old son from a recent holiday and i think as far as he's concerned it is one of the best presents that he has ever received. Every day i give him the cutter and 2 slices of bread and he is able to cut himself the sandwich. It has encouraged him to help with making his lunch and he has also learnt to butter the bread too because he was so keen to see his "dino mamwich" (his words : )). As far as the cutter itself it is very safe and i am very happy to let my 2 year old use it without fear that he is going to hurt himself. The edges are sharp enough to cut into bread but not sharp to hurt. The cost of this product is fantastic too and i'd highly recommend it for anyone wanting to get their wee ones involved in cooking as it's great for making fun biscuits too.
I might not be Annabel Karmel in the kitchen but I do try to prepare food and meals that the kids will actually enjoy and be happy to eat. I love Lakeland products in general and can spend hours browsing through their catalogues and when I came across these cute dinosaur shaped cutters for just £1.95, they went straight on my Lakeland wishlist!
The cutters are actually one piece which is very cleverly designed to produce two (small) identical dinosaurs from one piece of bread. The image in the catalogue (and on Dooyoo) shows how the cutter fits almost perfectly within a slice of bread, just cutting off the crusts (which my kids don't eat anyway) and minimising wastage. The reality is that all loaves of bread are going to be of different proportions. We tend to buy Warburton's medium sliced bread and these cutters are certainly not a perfect fit for those slices and quite a bit of the bread is actually wasted and the cutter has to be strategically placed to avoid one of the dinosaurs ending up with a broken leg! Fortunately, the little dinosaurs it produces are devoured greedily and none of those are actually wasted by my little dino-hunters.
The day we bought this cutter, everything ended up being dinosaur shaped from sandwiches to toast! The cutter has smoothed ends so that the edges aren't going to be too sharp for young children to use independently. The down side of that is that the cutter needs quite a lot of pressure to get through thicker items like toast and doorstep sandwiches! The cutter is made of thick, shiny plastic which is very easy to clean so it would be ideal for baking as the pastry wouldn't collect in the edges as with some cutters. It also seems very durable and even the roughest of little chefs would be hard-pressed to cause this handy little tool any damage (although the product does come with a 12 month manufacturers' guarantee in addition to Lakeland's very generous returns policy.)
If you're looking for a novel way to serve up kids' sandwiches, perhaps for packed lunches for a fussy eater or for a themed children's party, this simple but ingenious little cutter is ideal.
I currently have seven nieces & nephews and throughout the years they have all had their various fads and phases that they've inevitably grown out of.
One of my nephews loves dinosaurs and when browsing the Lakeland website I knew this would be just perfect for getting him to eat more sandwiches and especially ones make out of brown bread which he has recently taken a dislike to.
The Lakeland Dino cutter is a plastic cutter which is around 12cm and is the ideal size for a sandwich made from a standard sized loaf of bread. The cutter has two dinosaurs (one will be upside down whatever way you hold the cutter) and one hard press down through the sandwich will make two nice neat dinosaur sandwiches. It's extremely easy to use and little ones could even do it themselves with a little supervision to avoid too much mess in your kitchen!
These sandwiches are the perfect size for little boys and girls who are fussy eaters as the Dino cutter is the ideal size to remove those crusts that children seem to have such a dislike for. It's also great for making Dino toast, Dino cakes & Dino cookies, anything that you can press this in to really.
The Dino Cutter is available from Lakeland stores or www.lakeland.co.uk for just £1.95 which is a bargain price, especially if you have fussy eaters who won't taste your delicious ham salad sandwiches!
The quality of the Dino cutter is very good and it's now been used on a pretty much daily basis for several weeks with no problems. It's easy to clean and can just be washed up or even popped in the dishwasher (only done this on a couple of occasions and it's been fine but I'm not guaranteeing it!).
I am going to rate the Dino Cutter 5/5 as the price is fantastic and it is perfect for getting my nephew to eat brown bread (especially as these sandwiches will have no crusts!).
I went on a shopping trip to Lakeland on Saturday after I had read a few reviews of items that I thought would be useful. I had read a couple of positive reviews on the dino cutter and thought it would be ideal for my son who loves dinosaurs. He isn't particularly interested in food at the moment although will eat absent minded so I thought this may create a little enthusiasm for his toast and sandwiches.
The dino cutter is a 12 cm square cutter which cuts out two dinosaurs out of a single piece of bread, it is transparent green colour and priced at £1.95.
When I got the item home my son went rummaging through my bags and found it attached to the card and ran round the lounge roaring. I found it stuffed under the sofa and on Sunday made him some toast. They cut the toast cleanly. I buttered the toast after I cut the toast as I thought it would be less wasteful but there was so little waste and it when so fiddly it would have been better to butter the toast in the first place. I added cream cheese and arranged them on the plate. My son was initially impressed but and roared at his plate however he ate less than usual.
The following day I made him a sandwich and got a similar response he played with his food and was definitely more interested but more for playing with it than eating with it.
The cutter is easily washable and I am actually pleased with how the product cuts it just hasn't worked for my son but then it may be different for other boys.
I would definitely say that it may be worth a shot for other little boys who aren't particularly eating well as it may work for your child and if it doesn't it has only cost £1.95
I am not in general the type of mum who cuts food into shapes or makes faces with the kids dinner to get them to eat it but my son was having a dinosaur themed birthday party and so when I saw this Dino cutter in my local Lakeland I just had to buy it.
I couldn't believe the price at just £1.95, even if I only used it for the party it would still be a bargain.
It is made from a strong green plastic, it measures 12cm (4¾") sq. This is the perfect size for a standard slice of bread, the only left overs are the crusts which is fantastic as if you use a normal cookie cutter you are left with loads of wasted bread.
Each slice of bread will give you two dinosaurs so you can make a sandwich for one slice of bread.
For my little boys party, I made the sandwiches first and then used the cutter to cut them out. I used chopped peppers, cucumber or tomatoes to make eyes. As most mums and dads will know at the end of a kids party you are normally left with plates full of uneaten sandwiches, well this party was different. There was not one dino sarnie to be seen - unbelievable.
I also used it to make dino cookies and dino cakes. Which both went down a storm.
The dino cutter is hard wearing and can be used over and over again.
My children love using it, most mornings we have dino toast and I have even made dino mashed potato with peas for eyes.
Totally brilliant, excellent value, I am just waiting for them to bring out another design perhaps a bit more girly. When they do I will be sure to review it on here.
My son is extremely fussy when it comes to food and suffers from quite a few food allergies so school dinners are out and he has to take a packed lunch everyday.
So every morning I, do what some people will consider wrong, cut the crusts off the sandwiches and put them in a bag in his lunch box. He likes to guess whether they are squares or triangles each day and it has turned into a routine.
I should explain that my son is autistic and routine is a must for him. Surprises are something that he stuggles with so guessing of the sandwich shapes was a huge triumph for him.
He has a great interest in dinosaurs and when I was in Lakeland I seen this and thought he would love it.
It is almost the perfect size for the bread, only it cuts off the crusts. It creates 2 perfect long ncked dinosaurs. It is made of very robust green plastic which is slightly sharper on one side making it easier to cut the dinosaurs out.
I have used it for sandwiches, toast and cookies and my son is absolutely delighted with it.
It is very easy to clean and can go in the dishwasher. At £1.95 it is really worth the money.
This dino cutter is a simple but effective item. At £1.95 from Lakeland (also £2.25 on amazon) it won't break the bank, however it will liven up lunch boxes and can also be used for cookie, toast and sliced cheese cutting.
The cutter is made of a solid fittingly dinosaur green plastic and designed so it fits onto a slice of bread nicely with not too much waste - if I am feeling frugal I keep the crusts for use as breadcrumbs when making toast. I don't normally give in to requests for no crusts on sandwiches but make an exception when I use this cutter as it is so quick and waste is minimal, besides this makes fun sandwiches.
The sharp side of the cutter is not so sharp as it could hurt young chefs' hands but it does push through sandwiches fairly easily. The design of this item does mean that the sandwich or cookie is quite narrow by the dinosaur's head, so if a child is using it some adult assistance might be required, but the cutter works well with cookie or shortbread dough.
I think that is a great fun item - certainly my children love their "dinosaur toast" and I think that this item would appeal to girls and boys alike.
The cutter can be bought instore from lakeland or ordered online at www.lakeland.co.uk - it comes mounted on a card so would make a great stocking filler or take home item from a cooking party.
I think this is one of the best cutters that we have got, and I will be using it for my daughter's third birthday party which will have a Peppa Pig theme. Highly recommended.
Dinosaur-shaped sandwiches, toast and cookies...
