A great quality mould with cute little eyes.

In our house we eat ice lollies all year round, I have several different shaped lolly moulds from boats to rockets and my children love making them, so when I saw this funny face mould in Lakeland I just couldn't resist.

The funny face lolly mould comes in three main sections, a base, a soft silicone mould and a lid as well as three sets of eyes which also serve the purpose of being the lolly stick. At first glance it looks a bit too fiddly and complicated and I thought that maybe it was more hassle than it was worth. But once I used it I found that it was actually very simple to use.
The mould can make up to three lollies at a time.

To make your lollies - first ensure the silicone mould is pushed firmly into the base, this makes it sturdy and free standing. Now place the sets of eyes/ sticks into the grooves on the mould, each set of eyes has a different expression, there is the girlie one with long eyelashes, the stunned looking one with big round ones and the confused one with little crosses as eyes.
Once the eyes are in place simply pour your liquid into the mould until it reaches the fill line at the top, you can use anything you like, juices, squash, smoothies, fizzy drinks or alcohol, vodka cranberry lollies are the business just make sure the kids don't mistake them for blackcurrant. You can also use the mould to make chocolate lollies just pour in melted chocolate instead of drink.
When the moulds are full clip the lid into place, this fits on easy and has little lips on the edge for easy removal once frozen.
Now you are ready to freeze, just place the tray into the freezer to set.
When you are ready to eat the lollies take the tray from the freezer, remove the lid and take the silicone mould out of the base. I was a little concerned about the lollies coming out of the mould in one piece but as it is made of silicone it was really an easy job as you can twist and push it unlike rigid moulds.

The finished article - you will be hard pushed not to smile at these little lollies, they have cute little noses and their funny eyes. My kids thought they were brilliant. They are not very big, I would say about 7-8 cm long and 3 cm wide. This makes them perfect for little children who struggle to eat a big lolly before it melts. Obviously the taste of the lolly will depend on what you poured in the mould.
Once the kids have finished their lolly make sure you get the eyes back and they don't throw them away as without the stick the mould is pretty useless.

I think this is a fantastic product and it works really well, my only concerns are that the sticks may be lost and also after time the eyes may fade making them less appealing.

The mould and all the parts are handwash only, they can't be used in the dishwasher, microwave or oven.

You can buy this mould from Lakeland stores or online at www.lakeland.co.uk you can also order by telephone on 015394 88100. It costs £7.99, which I think is a reasonable price as it should last you a long time and you can make as many lollies as you wish.
