Lakeland Halloween Cookie Cutters
Advantages: Easy to use, work quite well, fantastic bat & pumpkin, easy to clean, cheap.
Disadvantages: Witch & ghost did not come out entirely most times they were used.
=== The product ===
These are Halloween inspired cookie cutters from Lakeland. You will receive a bat, a pumpkin, a witch and a ghost. These are coloured orange, as is the general Halloween theme thanks to pumpkins and they are made from plastic.
=== The packaging ===
These come provided in a packet of four on a cardboard backing. There is a plastic shape covering the front of the cookie cutters to hold them in place and this is your typical packaging that is quite simple to make a hole in and then you have to rip the plastic away from the cardboard to release the cookie cutters.
=== Where can I buy these & for how much? ===
These can be purchased from Lakeland stores, Lakeland.co.uk and from eBay. When I purchased my set I paid £2.49, however, I cannot check the price this year due to the Lakeland website being down for maintenance. The prices generally don't increase much on this type of product year on year with Laklenad so I'd expect these to be no more than £3.00 now.
=== Overall opinion ===
These cookie cutters are very simple to use. They are ideal for little hands as they are rounded plastic and do not have sharp edges. I have found that some cookie cutters in the past have felt a little bit rough on the hands but these are perfect. At around 4 inches these are large enough to make a fairly substantial cookie but not so large that little children will struggle too much when using them. When cutting these shapes out of cookie dough I did find that the dough needed to be fairly dry to ensure that the shapes were cut out correctly and I also noticed that some of the cookies lost a little bit of the detailing and some of the dough shapes were broken up a little when placing on to a baking tray. This happened on the four or five occasions that I used them last year and the same thing has happened again this year, a little disappointing, however, it's probably just because of the small tricky detail of the witch and the ghost.
I usually soak these cutters after using them and then just wipe them clean with a soapy cloth, like all my washing up. These are simple to clean even when they have been caked in dough that was a little too sticky.
Overall I like these, the detailing may not be 100%, however, they are good fun. My nieces & nephew enjoyed using them last year and I used them already this year to make some cookies for some friends at a party we went to recently. I am looking forward to using these again a few more times this year before they become irrelevant for another year. The price that I paid was reasonable, even for a product that I don't use all year round, and these have lasted well thrown in the bottom of my utensil drawer with hundreds of things on top of them. The orange colour has remained and they have not become cracked or damaged.
