“ Brand: Lakeland / Product Type: Cases „
I've recently bought these heart shaped silicone cupcase cases from Lakeland primarily because they were in the sale! They were reduced from £6.99 to £2.99 so I snapped them up. I have another set of silicone cupcase cases from Lakeland which are brilliant, these are just the regular round cupcake cases and I did pay the full price of £6.99 for these. I have definately had my moneys worth and more out of the normal round ones, so I knew that buying the heart shaped ones at £2.99 was a bit of a no brainer.
This is a pack of 12 heart shaped silicone cupcake cases, in various different pastel colours; there's 3 of each in pale pink, pale lilac, pale green and pale blue in the pack. And as I mentioned I got the pack for just £2.99 in the sale.
These are made of flexible silicone but it is quite a substantial silicone. You do not need to insert these inside a muffin tin to use them (to be honest I don't know how that would work anyway with them being a heart shape and not round), they will stand up perfectly well on just a baking sheet. And they don't lose their heart shape when you pour in the cake batter and the cupcakes are baked either.
You can make heart shaped cupcakes using a normal muffin tin and paper cupcake liners. All you have to do is to insert a marble in beteeen the cupcake liner and the muffin tin to create the dip of the heart. Leave the marble in place throughout the baking process and you will end up with heart shaped cupcakes. It's not perfect but it's a fairly decent heart shape at a pinch. I have done this a few times previously if I've wanted to make heart shaped cupcakes. No need to anymore with my new heart shaped cases though!
As with other silicone bakeware you can use these cupcake cases in the oven, the microwave, the fridge and the freezer, and they are dishwasher safe. Sometimes they do turn back the right way up in the dishwasher though as they are so lightweight, and so they might just need a quick final rinse under the tap.
It is very easy to unmould your finished cupcakes from these, I've never had any cupcakes stick to these at all. You can choose to serve your cupcakes in the silicone liners or remove the liners first.
I've had loads of use so far out of these, and they are really good quality. An absolute bargain in the sale at the moment. They certainly work out much cheaper than buying the regular paper cupcake cases as they are reuseable many many times over. I've had my set of round cupcake cases from Lakeland for around 3 years now, and they are still in perfect condition. These heart shaped cupcake cases appear to be exactly the same quality so I'm sure that they will last just as long.
I was given these cake cases as a little thankyou present from my friend. They knew my love of all things Lakeland and made a great choice with these silicone heart shaped cases.
What are they?
They are individual heart shaped cake cases, made from silicone.
The cases come in a pack of 12 they are all pretty pastel colours, I think the colours can vary but my pack had three pink, three lilac, three baby blue and three mint green. They come in a hard plastic tube which is handy for storing them in when not in use.
How do you use them ?
You use them exactly how you would use traditional paper cases, except you don't throw them away afterwards.
The silicone is very heard wearing and strong, it can withstand temperatures of up to 260 degrees. It can also cope with freezing conditions and is dishwasher safe.
There is no need to grease them, you can simply pour your mixture in and pop them in the fridge, freezer or oven. Depending on what you are using them for.
My main use of these are for fairy cakes, but I have used them very successfully for jelly at a recent dinner party I used them to make heart shaped strawberry and vodka jelly, they turned out very well and tasted amazing. I have also used them to make ice cubes and as chocolate moulds but I found them a little big for these uses. They are 6cm X 3cm.
They really do turn out perfect heart shaped cakes, they are easy to clean and can be used again and again. Just be careful not to give them to the school fete or church cake sales as you may never see them again. ALso if using them for childrens parties it may be a good idea to take the cakes out of the cases before putting them on the plate as the kiddies may not know they are reusable.
I want them - where can I get them ?
The are available from Lakeland, either instore, online at www.lakeland.co.uk or via telephone on 015394 88100. The last two option will cost £4.95 postage and packing unless you spend over £50 and then it will be free.
The cases cost £5.99 for a pack of twelve, I think this is great value and an investment as you can use them over and over again.
