Lakeland Silicone Heart Cases
Advantages: in the sale at the moment, reuseable
I've recently bought these heart shaped silicone cupcase cases from Lakeland primarily because they were in the sale! They were reduced from £6.99 to £2.99 so I snapped them up. I have another set of silicone cupcase cases from Lakeland which are brilliant, these are just the regular round cupcake cases and I did pay the full price of £6.99 for these. I have definately had my moneys worth and more out of the normal round ones, so I knew that buying the heart shaped ones at £2.99 was a bit of a no brainer.
This is a pack of 12 heart shaped silicone cupcake cases, in various different pastel colours; there's 3 of each in pale pink, pale lilac, pale green and pale blue in the pack. And as I mentioned I got the pack for just £2.99 in the sale.
These are made of flexible silicone but it is quite a substantial silicone. You do not need to insert these inside a muffin tin to use them (to be honest I don't know how that would work anyway with them being a heart shape and not round), they will stand up perfectly well on just a baking sheet. And they don't lose their heart shape when you pour in the cake batter and the cupcakes are baked either.
You can make heart shaped cupcakes using a normal muffin tin and paper cupcake liners. All you have to do is to insert a marble in beteeen the cupcake liner and the muffin tin to create the dip of the heart. Leave the marble in place throughout the baking process and you will end up with heart shaped cupcakes. It's not perfect but it's a fairly decent heart shape at a pinch. I have done this a few times previously if I've wanted to make heart shaped cupcakes. No need to anymore with my new heart shaped cases though!
As with other silicone bakeware you can use these cupcake cases in the oven, the microwave, the fridge and the freezer, and they are dishwasher safe. Sometimes they do turn back the right way up in the dishwasher though as they are so lightweight, and so they might just need a quick final rinse under the tap.
It is very easy to unmould your finished cupcakes from these, I've never had any cupcakes stick to these at all. You can choose to serve your cupcakes in the silicone liners or remove the liners first.
I've had loads of use so far out of these, and they are really good quality. An absolute bargain in the sale at the moment. They certainly work out much cheaper than buying the regular paper cupcake cases as they are reuseable many many times over. I've had my set of round cupcake cases from Lakeland for around 3 years now, and they are still in perfect condition. These heart shaped cupcake cases appear to be exactly the same quality so I'm sure that they will last just as long.
