Disadvantages: Limited in capacity for food stuffs
Whilst perusing on the Lego website, I stumbled across these gems of a product. A real life LEGO LUNCHBOX to hold your sandwiches and lunch in when you go to work or college or even school.
The lunchboxes come in a whole range of sizes from bright girly pink to black, yellow, red, blue, green... They are made from plastic and are exactly as shown in the photo. Disappointingly you do not get a Lego Hamburger inside! The lid slots over the base and you push it right down to enclose your lunch. It is basically two squares of plastic, one slightly smaller than the other and one slots inside the other to enclose the contents. So when you remove the lid, you are left with a square box of plastic much like a square bowl.
The lids are easy to remove as there are small semi circles cut out of the plastic on all four sides that you can use to grip the base as you pull the lid upwards. Each lunchbox has the distinctive four Lego round nodules on it with the word "Lego" printed on each to show they are an official Lego product.
Each lunchbox costs £6- £8. Which is very reasonable. I love these, I have a green lunchbox that has been washed and re-used many many times and still looks in great condition. The storage space inside each lunchbox measures 12 cm square and 9.5cm high. They are big enough to carefully arrange a few sandwiches and a small bag of crisps in but you do have to spend some time squishing or arranging your food to try to make it fit in the box. If you choose your food carefully or are good at the game Tetris so you are good at arranging goods to fit in a certain shaped space then you will get along well with this product.
The only downside is the plastic can retain food smells. Also if you do not wash these out properly then put the lid on and put them away, you will find they develop a foisty musty smell like candlewax and crayons. I suppose if you care for these and are careful about making sure they are cleaned and dried well you will get more out of the purchase.
I love how these look- they are very unique the only drawback is the size and how you are constricted if you take more than 1 sandwich or small roll and one other item for your lunch.
Summary: Quirky little product for children and adults alike
