A good excuse to treat yourself to an ice cream sundae in these! 5 Stars

Maxwell & Williams Sundae Ice Cream

I treated myself to a set of four of these ice cream sundae dishes awhile ago having seen thrm in a local homeware store in Edinburgh and fallen in love with them (not the colour of the one in the picture which is pretty garish!).

The ice cream dishes come in individual heavy duty boxes with a flap lid. They are securely wrapped in bubble wrap and have a picture of the sundae dish and the colour of the dish that is inside on the front. The colours these are available in include, mint green, pale blue, baby pink, white basics and burnt orange (as shown in the picture).

I was immediately drawn to these dishes as they reminded me of my younger days where I would order a huge ice cream sundae in restaurants and it would be full of different flavour ice creams, squirty cream, chocolate pieces and sprinkles. I wanted to recreate these masterpieces at home on treat nights!

The sundae dishes are 16 cm in height and have a maximum diameter of 10 cm at the widest point at the top of the dish. The material used for this is a thick vitreous porcelain, that is coloured and glazed on the outside. To hold these dishes feel really strong and are quite heavy and sturdy. I have two pale blue dishes and two mint green dishes in my cupboard, which are nice and bright and colourful and suit an ice cream sundae to a T.

The fabulous design of these dishes is that they are made to look like a wafer ice cream cone. The porcelain is curved like a cone with a wide open top which goes down into a pointed base, although these dishes then have a flat base so that they can stand upright. The ouside of the cone is then ridged with small squares much like a cornetto ice cream. They're great fun to both look at and eat out of!

I stuff the cone dish full of naughty treats and then put as high a pile of squirty cream and chocolate sauce as can balance on the top. For best eating results and less frustration you should use a long and thin dessert spoon to eat your ice cream sundae or else you won't be able to reach into the pointed bottom of the dish, though you could always drink the end bits!

Fridge, oven, microwave & dishwasher safe.

At full price these dishes cost £4.50 each and are available in speciality homeware stores and online at maxwellandwilliams.co.uk. A fab and fun product that will bring back youthful memories!
