* Please bear in mind how hard it is to write a lengthy review about an ice cube tray before rating me low for a short review. I've covered all that needs be. * I have a love for all things random and a little bit fun. Pac Man used to be one of my favourite games when I was younger, I spent hours with my little game stick plugged into the telly for hours playing (Can't remember what its called but it was a block that you used to pay old school games like tennis, battleships and pac man). I got this ice cube tray as a joke present from my mum, as apparently she saw it and 'couldn't resist because it was something I'd love' - she was so right! I don't like the fact she spent almost £10 on it though, but in her eyes it was perfect for my new home! The tray has 4 ghosts and 8 pac man head shapes, which I like especially because floating round in my glass of water they look really fun! The tray is quite squishy and I think made from silicone. It is relatively easy to pop the ice cubes out of the tray because they are quite bendy which is good, it doesn't involve lots of smashing the tray down on the side. The ice cubes are quite a good size and you can easily fit 3 in a regular sized tumbler without them taking over the drink. I find it really easy to use this tray and after several uses, it is still in good condition. I don't know why but I thought the actual tray would snap in half due to the material but its fine still. I haven't had issues getting the cubes out but I would recommend not pushing them out straight into your drink - I did this and most of the drink jumped onto the floor! I couldn't really fault this product and for an ice cube tray its really good quality. I don't recommend spending the full amount on it though so if I was you, I'd root through Amazon and eBay to find a cheaper one!
This is another purchase we made in Paperchase thanks to my boyfriend's love of Pac Man and the fact that I wanted another ice cube tray! The tray is made from a bright yellow, flexible rubber and contains 8 Pac Man's, 4 ghosts (does anyone else find it strange the the Pac Man's far outweigh the ghosts, when it's the opposite in the game?). Fortunately unlike some rubbers, this ice cube tray does not have any unpleasant or artificial smells. The layout is also fairly well done as you get a decent number and size of ice cubes for the overall size of the tray. I have found removing the ice cubes from the tray can be a bit of a pain - each ice cube is quite deep as as they are more complicated shapes than simple squares, they tend to get stuck in the tray. To get them out you have to fully invert each individual section. Although the rubber is quite pliable, when it's filled with solid ice, it becomes hard to push inside out and I've found that I have to use both thumbs to get one ice cube out at a time - so it isn't the quickest to use (although I don't think speed is of the essence when it comes to ice cubes) or neither is it suitable really for children to use despite the nature of the product being appealing to them. Price wise this has quite a costly RRP at £8, especially considering you can get a basic rubber ice cube tray for less than £2 in a supermarket. We purchased this at full price from Paperchase, but it can be bought from amazon for £6.95 including postage. I would recommend this product for Pac Man fans and anyone who wants to bring a bit of fun to their drinks (good for parties and the like). However it is over priced and the ice cubes aren't the easiest to get out!
