Pyrex Measuring Jug
Advantages: So handy
A cheap, very versatile kitchen product that everyone should own.
When it comes to kitchen utensils that I use all the time this jug has to be one of them. The great thing about it is that it's extremely cheap too but very helpful. Whenever you cook, even if you are just a stir in the water and heat it up type of cook, you generally need to know how much water to add to a meal. I make a lot of casseroles with Heinz mixes and they always require you to mix the powder packet with a certain amount of water. With the pyrex jug it's very simple to just add the water from the tap and then stir in the powder because the pyrex jug has quite a wide neck so you can sprinkle in the powder without it getting everywhere and then it mixes really well.
What I also love about this jug is that I also make some recipes, especially cous cous that require you to add boiling water to the mixture. When you need a certain amount it is very easy to just pour the boiling water from the kettle into this jug as it is heat resistant to 300 degrees c. I never feel worried about pouring hot water into this as I know it is not going to crack or shatter.
The jug is made of a thick glass and is very sturdy. It is quite easy to lift and not heavy even when it is full. It has quite a chunky handle so you always feel quite secure lifting it up. The measurements are on the side in red and are displayed in both pints and litres for all the different recipes that you may have.
As well as being heat resistant this jug is also microwave safe, freezer safe, dishwasher safe, stain resistant and doesn't retain flavours. There is not much that you can do to this jug without it coming out brand new again every time you wash it, it is virtually indestructible. If however, you do manage to damage it in any way it comes with a 10 year manufacturer's guarantee. Having said that, at £3.50 for a new jug it is hardly worth the effort of getting in touch with the manufacturer and sending it back when you can buy a new one for that low price.
