Pyrex Measuring Jug
Disadvantages: nothing, it is a kitchen essential for me
Pryrex have been making glassware since the 1940's and are a household brand name when it comes to measuring jugs. The main two sizes you can buy are the 1 L version and the 500 ml version. They are extremely reliable and this is backed up by their 10 year manufacturer's guarantee.
*Price and availability*
Both sizes will cost around £3.00 and available from supermarkets to discount stores and online.
The jug is famous mainly because of the helpful measuring guidelines printed on the side. This is perfect for assisting you in the kitchen when you are making stocks and soups.
The jug is made from toughened Borosilicate Glass, which gives this product a high thermal shock resistance meaning it is Oven Safe to 300 degress C. On one side is an easy to grip handle that is the right size for gripping with bare skin or with an oven glove. At the other side is a pour spout.
I have had my Pryrex for 7 years now and it is still in fantastic condition. There are no cracks or scratches on the glass and it does not hold on to odours. The glass looks brand new which is surprising because I must use at least once every day. If I am not using it for baking or cooking, I will be using it to measure out milk for my porridge. I often use it to heat items up in the microwave, such as beans and peas.
The pryrex jug is safe in the microwave and it is also safe for storing in the fridge or freezer. I have had it in the fridge when saving some left over soup but I have never frozen it.
When it comes to cleaning, the jug can be washed by hand or in the dishwasher.
I would fully recommend this jug as it comes in so handy. I like it because it is so robust and you really can do anything you want with it. I've dropped mine and it still looks brand new. This jug is an investment and should last you a long time.
Summary: A real help in the kitchen
