“ Brand: Rexinter / Product Type: Lunch Bag „
I always seem to cram a lot of stuff into my handbag and when taking my lunch to work it inevitably ends up squashed or not fitting into the little space I have left. I got fed up with using plastic carrier bags and decided to look for an alternative way to transport my food. I came across this lunch bag on Amazon and snapped it up for the price of £3.94 including the postage & packing, from the seller FunkyGiftsUK.
It has a really cute design and looks retro without being too kitsch. It is a functional boxy shape and has 2 webbing strap handles that are the perfect length to hold easily in your hand. The lid zips undone around the top and folds back so you can pack and unpack it quickly. The inside of the bag is coated with a cross-hatched silver foil lining which is the magic touch to keeping the contents of the bag insulated. The dimensions listed are: height 20cm x width 15cm x depth 13cm.
The polka dots are funky and colourful but not garish and childish in the way that some lunch boxes are. I am not sure whether it is intended for children or adults but it does the job for me and would suit any fashion conscious practical types. The design might not be interesting enough for younger girls that like the branded character lunch packs, but I love the simple pattern and it matches my red polka dot pumps that I wear to work - PERFECT!
I have had good experience with using this for my lunch, I usually pack my lunch in the bag the night before, stuff the whole thing in the fridge and then grab it and go on my way out in the morning. It keeps things cool and fresh through til lunch time. It works particularly well for drinks, I like to take a small bottle of fruit smoothie with me to top up my 5-a-day, and there's nothing worse than a room-temperature smoothie, this lunch bag spares me that unpleasantness! It also keeps my houmous cool and the veggie crudités fresh and crisp. The only problem I've had so far is that some of my yoghurts turn a little runny if I don't eat them around mid-morning, but the effectiveness of the bag could easily be boosted by using those little ice pack pouches that you keep in the freezer (I must get some of those!). It also works really well for packing a faux bento lunch, if you have little individual tubs for sauces, rice, vegetables etc it keeps it chilled and organised.
This really has helped me to become more organised. With planning and packing the lunch bag the night before, I am able to eat a healthier meal, be prepared and save time in the mornings. I am well fed and my food is safe and secure in its own little bag away from the perils of being crushed, squashed, and reduced to a small pile of crumbs. It is big enough to carry enough food for my lunch and a couple of snacks with a little bottle of drink, but it's not too bulky and doesn't get in the way when you're carrying it. It is made of plastic and easily wipes clean with a damp cloth. When it's not in use the bag folds down in a compact way and can be stored in the kitchen cupboard taking up a minimal amount of space.
I didn't realise this until I received it in the post and saw the label attached, but this is also an environmentally friendly product. The base material of this bag is made from recycled plastic bottles and it's a 90% recycled product. How good is that?! I was really impressed and happy to know that I have bought a plastic product that is actually environmentally friendly.
It's a simple change to make and quite a basic product but I have overlooked using something like this for so long that now I actually have one I am really happy with it and pleased with how well it is performing. I hope it has a long and happy life, and I would certainly recommend this to anyone.
