“ Brand: Tesco / Product Type: Tray „
Last Christmas I had everyone round to my home, all Marks family and mine too. I did a buffet type supper and as I didn't have any large plates or trays I bought some disposable ones from my local Tesco. I bought a couple of packs of 3 round foil trays which cost less than £3.00 per pack. They seemed reasonably priced and looked quite nice. The round foil trays I bought were 30cm's in diameter and come in just a cellophane wrapper with a small label on the front. The trays are silver and have a pattern all over them, this in my opinion stops them looking too much like tin foil. Around the edge the trays have a lip just like a regular tray which makes them slightly easier to carry. As I mentioned I used these trays for a family get together last Christmas and they were ideal. I gave them a quick wipe over before I used them and they looked quite nice. I served cold food on the trays, cold meats, sausage rolls, cakes all the usual party bits you have at that time of year. The trays held up brilliantly, they didn't bend or crumple when I picked them up and being made from just foil meant they were nice and light too. Although these are designed to be disposable I kept them, I washed them carefully with soapy water and felt sure they could come in useful for some other occasion. I was right, when we had a nice spell of weather a couple of weeks ago we had family round for a BBQ and I got the foil trays out again. They were ideal for using outside as I didn't have to worry about my nice crockery getting broken or even left outside. If you don't like the look of the silver foil colour you could cover the tray with a small cloth or serviettes. The trays would suit any occasion where you are serving food for a buffet style party whether it be birthday, christening, wedding or Christmas. If you want to make the trays fit he occasion you could always lay serviettes over them suitable for whatever occasion it is. If you are thinking of entertaining them I would certainly recommend the Tesco round foil trays, they don't cost a fortune and can be used more than once. They are nice and light to carry and you don't have to worry about any of your best plates getting broken, I found the size ideal too. All in all a good item for entertaining.
We bought some of these Tesco foil plates the other week as it was a friend's christening and she wanted us to get her some disposable (but attractive and pretty looking) silver plates for the table display. We found these pack of three 30cm diameter silver foil plates in Tesco's for just £1.50, which works out at just 50p each. The pack was very easy to open, and not a lot of tugging at the plastic once we got home was necessary, like it usually is with these type of things. They are very pretty and very attractive in my personal opinion and our friend was really pleased with our choice. We bought two packs which consisted of six plates in total. We put little fairy cakes and sandwiches on them and the guest were really impressed. With an added doily too it took everyone's breath away! What I particularly love about these little plates is that although they are meant to be disposable, they can actually be used again and again without them dropping to bits. They are very hard wearing and we just wiped them over with a damp cloth and fairly liquid and hey presto, they are as good as new. They were also especially handy as when the little kids were helping to dish out the food to the adults we weren't afraid of the plates being smashed or damaged if they dropped on the floor (which they did on a couple of occasions). All in all a great and useful product, pretty and attractive and they don't cost a great deal and ideal for parties and special events. Review also posted on Ciao as sorehead
I work in a bookies and every so often we have to host a tournament for the machines. On these days, we get a budget for putting on a buffet which I am usually in charge of sorting out. I really don't like just shoving food out in the shop so I decided to spend part of the budget one time on some serving trays, just to try to make things look a little bit nicer. For £2.90 I got a pack of three foil serving trays which are 30cm in diameter. Although I was expecting serving trays to be a little cheaper than this, work was paying so I didn't really mind the price point, especially as I knew they would get used over and over again. The trays are quite sturdy although if you try to bend them hard enough, you could quite easily bend them in half. I did give the trays a bit of a wobble in the packet to test how strong they were going to be and I decided that they would do the job just fine for what they were going to be used for. Each tray is stacked on top of each other and tightly wrapped with cellophane. Stuck on the cellophane wrapping is a small piece of paper which indicates how many trays you get in the packet and the Tesco logo. Before using the trays I quickly wiped them over with a damp cloth just to make sure that they were really clean before serving food to my customers. As much as they annoy me sometimes, I certainly didn't want to make them ill. The trays are also easily dried with a normal tea towel. The trays have a patterned effect on the top which was a nice touch for when the food on them was taken away. Around the edges of the trays are a small lip which gives the food a little extra stability although if you were to tip it over, I don't think the lip would make much of a difference as to whether or not the food would fall off. Each tray holds quite a large amount of food. For work buffets I usually just do a range of sandwiches, sausage rolls and quiche etc and the three trays I bought did the job really well. I had plenty of space for all of the food and could put the sandwiches on a separate tray to the other foods. The trays made the buffet look a lot nicer than it normally would have and I didn't have the hassle of finding different things to put the food on. The trays are also really easy to clean as you can just clean them with your normal washing up as long as you aren't rough with them. I wasn't sure about the price point to begin with but now I think these trays are really good value for money. I bought them well over 6 months ago and they are still looking nearly as new as they day I bought them. They aren't used an awful lot but I think they will definitely manage another 6 months.
