Advantages: Drains well, cheap

Disadvantages: Could be stronger

Towards the end of last year I bought the Tesco Value turner and whilst i was in store I decided to buy this too, the slotted spoon that we were using was a metal one which I don't believ to be very safe as we are trying to give our daughter some little lessons in the kitchen and didn't want her to get burnt on it as it does get very hot.

The spoon is obviously from Tesco and it cost a measily 37p which I believe to be fantastic value.

The spoon is made of very nearly black plastic and is more flimsy than more expsnive slotted spoons however it does the job well. The spoon has a long handle which has a hole in the end so that it can be hung up in your kitchen if you so choose. The end of the spoon has some slots in hence the name, there are 8 slots in so that when you pick something up with the spoon the water can drain off easily.

The spoon being made of plastic means that it is safer to use on my non stick pans than my metal one ever was and it won't cause them any damage, the spoon is pretty lightweight but it is strong enough to scoop up vegetables or a boiled egg which is pretty much all I need it to do. We have let my daughter use this spoon (once food cools) and she at 4 years old has managed to use the utensil without problem.

The spoon is very easy to clean and the slots in the spoon part are wide enough to get a cloth though and make sure you have a good clean utensil. I don't see any reason to pay out more for utensils when Tesco are selling items like these as even if you went through 5 times as many as a branded version it would still be brilliant value.

Summary: A great utensil
