      a nice hot lunch

      My Nan was clearing out her kitchen cupboards the other day of all of her old belongings that she no longer uses, she had emptied all of the contents into a box and said that I could help myself to any of the items in the box as they were going to the dump.

      I rifled through the box and came across some Toastabags, the box that they were in stated that were the original Toastabags, although they were strangely something that I had never come across before.

      What is a Toastabag I hear your cry, well it is a black looking bag that is slightly bigger than a slice of bread and it has a small hole in the top in the middle of the bag so that it can be removed from the toaster with ease.

      You make a sandwich such as cheese and ham for example and if you would prefer to have the sandwich hot and toasted you place it into the Toastabag and pop the bag into your toaster and in around three minutes you will have a hot toasted cheese and ham sandwich with hot melted cheese too.

      The bag makes sure that your toaster stays clean, I was a little sceptical as I thought that the filling would just run out of the sandwich to the bottom of the bag but it doesn't as the toaster holds the sandwich perfectly. Not only can you use it for sandwiches with fillings of your choice you can also heat up pastries and slices of pizza too.

      The Toastabag can be reused up to 300 times each and what's even better is that there are two in a pack, so that is around 600 uses which is a lot of toasted food. It is a quick and easy way of reheating you food without the stress of having to clean your oven or sandwich toaster. The bag can either be washed in the sink with hot soapy water or placed into the dishwasher for an easy clean.

      Not only is the Toastabag easy to use it is also a healthier option as no additional fats are required to heat the food. It is easy to remove the sandwich out of the bag as it also has a non stick coating.

      I have been using the bags now for a few months and it still looks as good as new. When you take the bag out of the toaster be careful as they can be really hot and burn your fingers, make sure that you use the hole provided to help remove the bag from the toaster.

      The only downfall is I cannot use this at home for toasting sandwiches as the toaster is too small as I cannot adjust the width, so I have to use thin bread or flatten the sandwich before toasting to make it fit, which ruins your lunch. But the toaster at work we have this facility so it is great to use, especially as you can make the sandwich at home and take it to work at put in your toasterbag for a nice hot lunch.

      Overall this is a great buy if you have a toaster that can fit a sandwich in and I have seen this brand available online for under £5.00, so for £2.50 a bag and with a cost of £0.0083 a use.

        Why not give it a try!

        I heard about these from my mum and thought I would give them a try, as I do like toasties but sometimes a toastie maker is just one more gadget to take up space in the kitchen and these bags take up almost no space at all they are just kept inside a drawer with a few other kitchen bits and pieces.

        The bags are extremely easy to use: You just make your sandwich with the bread and fillings, and then place it inside the bag, place the bag inside the toaster, wait a couple of minutes and your toastie is all ready to eat!

        I did find sometimes I had to squash and flatten the sandwich down a little bit to get it the fit easily into the bag, and I also found that you should have your toaster turned up quite high to give time for the toastie to be cooked properly. I normally make my toast quite lightly done, on a level 2 or 3 on the toaster but this was not adequate for the toaster bags as the sandwhiches were not really done at that level. It is best to go about a level 5, in my opinion.

        The finished toastie is not the same as ones you would get from a traditional 'toasted sandwich maker' - the main difference being the lack of that sealed edge which you normally get from the machines. These bags don't give you that same toastie pocket effect at all, they simply toast the bread and cook the filling. However I have seen some cafes serve toasties that have been done this way.

        I found the taste quite good, I would not say amazing but as a quick lunch I have been happy with it and I would say these bags are very handy to have in, for those times when you just feel like something warm for lunch but have not got the time to really cook anything. I tried mine with cheese filling, tuna sweetcorn filling, or the nicest one which may sound weird but cheese with some chopped hot dog type sausage slices. There are loads of things you could try, so it does give you a lot of possibilities.

        The bags are very easy to clean just wash them up as you would do with any plate or kitchen item. They are also dishwasher safe by putting them on the top shelf, but I preferred to just wash them by hand.

        The bags claim to give 300 uses so for that it is a very good price! I purchased mine from Amazon for around 5 pounds (current price on Amazon is 4.99) and for this price I am very happy with them.

        Advantages

        Disadvantages

        A quid well spent

        We have been using toastabags for over a year now and have been impressed with this means of toasting sandwiches - far less messy than cleaning the toastie-maker which has remained somewhere at the back of the cupboard.

        For the last two months, however, we have noticed that the wax like surface of our bags, now well-used had not only become much blacker, but a small hole had also developed in one of them. I think we got our money's worth, though.

        It was time to invest in a replacement pack of two. Whilst visiting my father-in law this week, we spoke to him about this means of toasting sandwiches because we know that, living by himself he tends to get by on snacks rather than proper meals.

        And so it was that we bought two packs and educated him in the ease with which these can be used to toast a sandwich. At this stage, although we know that these can be used to reheat other foods, we decided to stick with sarnies - on health and safety grounds.

        As was the case with me when I first tried these, he found it hard to comprehend that it was safe to have melted cheese inside a toaster. However, seeing was believing and he was impressed with the end result too.

        These bags were a different brand to what we had previously used but they were constructed of the same material and designed to work in the same way.

        The big issue with these, which remains a slight concern is that, depending on the size of your toaster slots and the thickness of your sandwich, you have to really squash it for it to fit in. If you have to really squash it in, it can get stuck and the normal release mechanism which turns the toaster off does not always work. It is best therefore to either use a toaster with extra wide slots or to supervise the toasting process until complete so that you can manually intervene if it starts to burn.

        Provided such common sense steps are taken, it is perfectly safe to use these bags and I have been duly converted. They are easy to clean in the normal washing up - I generally just turn them inside out and wash as normal, standing them up on the drainer to drip dry.

        Advantages

        Disadvantages

        A great time saving invention

        Most people will have at least seen Toastabags in some of the larger homeware shops or even the supermarkets. THere are several different varieties of these bags available, however I have only ever had these original kind, that are usually priced around the £5 mark for a pack of 2.

        These toastabags are meant to be used as a quicker substitute to using a sandwich toaster and avoid the cleaning and hassle that comes with using bigger equipment.

        We were first given these toastabags when we got engaged about five years ago, and we have been using them ever since. I now own three of these bags, since one of the original pair split at the bottom, after being used many many times.

        The great thing about these toasta bags is that they are resusable. In fact the promoters beind the bags claim they are reusuable up to 300 times, although I cannot say I keep count, but you could definitely say they offer great value for money. Furthermore, not only can they be used to make toasted sandwiches, by simply sliding your sandwich, with whatever contents you like into the bag and placing in the toaster until they pop up, the company also claim that they can be used to heat up chicken nuggets, pizza slices, pastries and other things. I have to admit that I have never used them for anything other than toasted sandwiches, but you are used to cooking the other, it may be worth a try with these bags. THe newer packaging of these bags comes with its own recipe book, however I have never received one in my packet toastabags, so I cannot comment on the usefulness of this. Another plus point of these bags is that they are very easy to clean, I simply give them a wipe with a damp cloth and leave them to dry.

        There are some negative things about this bag that should be considered. THe toasted sandwiches that they produce are nowhere near as good as those you would get from using a proper sandwich toaster. They toast the outside of the bread well, although you really need to give them the full time in the toaster if you are to fully melt the contents of the sandwich. I also find that the sandwiches aren't sealed very well with the machine, and sometimes when I take the sandwich out of the bag, the bread and contents can come apart easily - although this is not a major issue to be honest. The other major downside of these bags is that they don't fit all toasters. YOu need to have a toaster with wide slots to insert the bags, otherwise you will either not be able to fit the entire bag in and thus the contents will not be heated through, or you will not be able to get them into the slot at all.

        All in all, for the convenience element of these toastabags, you couldn't ask for a better invention for a quick snack or lunch idea, without the hassle of a proper sandwich toaster. IF you are looking to get the same quality toasted sandwich as you would get from the machine you will be disappointed. As long as you are aware of this slight downside, these bags are definitely worth their money, and you will get good use out of them. A great time saving invention.

          Advantages

          Once a top product in my house but I am no longer convinced

          During my pregnancy my husband picked up a pack to make cheese toasties a quick and easy snack to have for my midnight feast. I must say I was not all that happy about putting a bag in the toaster and the first few times we watched them in case it burst into flames - after all we rent our house!

          As well as cheese toasties you can cook things such as burgers, fish fingers and chips. I do find that anything greasy does cause the bag to smoke somewhat and to that end a lovely black sooty residue remains on the bag. My husband has also commented that the toaster does now smell a little fatty when used normally.

          I must admit though that it has proven very handy to have. As my son has grown I have been able to knock together a quick fish finger butty without turning the electric grill/oven on and therefore saving a little cash on the electric bill.

          It states on packaging that they are suitable for 300 uses however I found them a little difficult to clean and found myself throwing them away after what cannot be more than 50 uses.

          We purchased a couple of packages of them but have yet to replace the last ones. I am not sure that I will either. While they are useful to have for emergencies I don't like the idea of food cooking sat in fat, the fat dripping into the toaster and the fatty smell that stays in the house.

          I had recommended these to people in the past but I think I am going to bow out of the toastabags corner now.

            Advantages

            Disadvantages

            great you will have to get some

            Toastabags are the best, Most of the time I will have ham and chesse in it. You can any thing that you feel like eating. You can buy them in most places now. I bought mine from the 99p store. You can get them from asda but they are £4.99 in there.

            When i bought mine I got 2 of them in my packet. They are great because when I am at work and I would like to have something hot I will make a chesse and ham to toasta. My little sister and brother loves haveing them 2.

            What you can put in the Toastabags:
            You can put any thing in them but I love haveing chesse and ham.

            How to clean them:
            When I use my toasted bag I just put it in the sink and wash it up. I dont dry it I just let it dry. You can also put it in the dishwasher.

            The only bad thing I dont like about them is that the chesse sometimes dont melt properly. I also put it in for about 1 min then I take it out and turn it upside down.

            I think that the toasted bags are great because I can put any thing I want in one. It take me about 2 to 3 minutes to make a toasted which is great if you are in a hurry.

            The toastabags I got are light brown in colour and they are the standard size for sliced loaves. They are made of a highly non-stick material called PTFE. The ones I got you can re-used them about 300 times.

            The toastabags are great and I would tell any one to get some.

            Thanks for reading

            You have to try these!

            Toastabags Original

            Description: Make toasted sandwiches and snacks in your toaster without the mess. Toastabag is reusable and washable for up to 300 uses!

            http://shop.toastabags.com

            I work shifts which means that I am often to be found eating meals at odd times. I try to make myself something at home which I can then take into work and reheat using the microwave but unfortunately don't always have the time. On those occasions, I have to grab ready meals, something which will warm up easily in the microwave or toaster (we have both in the kitchen at work) or resort to buying takeaway.

            Now lately, I have been trying to lose the few pounds that I gained over the festive season (this is going quite well in case you are interested!) so have been trying to eat healthy foods and avoid takeaways and snacking. This makes it more important than ever to have quick and convenient options which are warming and filling.

            These bags are sold in packs of two which will cost anything between £1 to £4 depending on where you buy them. They are available in most supermarkets, can also be bought online (see above website for details) and come in a cardboard box with a picture of a toasted sandwich on the front.

            The bags are made from a material which feels like a mixture of plastic and fabric and come in black or gold. The gold colour isn't really gold but more of a beige shade. The basic idea is that you can make a toasted sandwich in around 3 minutes in your toaster. These bags can also be used to heat up pastries, pizza slices, chicken nuggets, fish fingers and more.

            To use, simply prepare your sandwich and then put in inside the toaster bag (or fish fingers, pizza slices etc) Pop the bag into your toaster and in around 3 minutes, you have your toasted sandwich! The bags are reusable and can be cleaned with either warm water and washing up liquid, or popped into the dishwasher.

            The bags are non stick so you will easily be able to slide your food out when it is ready. I was a little skeptical as to how well these would work but was delighted with them. I have used them for toasted sandwiches, fish fingers and pizza and been really pleased with the results each time. You do have to adjust the cooking time a little depending on what you are heating up, but that is as easy as checking it and then popping it down for a little longer so still incredibly convenient.

            The only downside that I have found with these bags is that they don't fit in all toasters. I bought some of these to use at home after being so please with he results at work but because my toaster is smaller, they were slightly too large. Having said that, I now plan to buy a bigger one because these bags are so useful that I want to be able to use them at home too!

            The bags are a quick, convenient, mess free and easy way to create hot foods in minutes. They are great for students, the elderly or anyone looking to save time. I cannot recommend these bags highly enough and will definitely keep using mine. Oh and if you are wondering what kind of toasted sandwich to make, have a look at the recipes page on their website, there are loads of delicious options to choose from!

              Advantages

              Disadvantages

              Ideal for a quick snack or a tasty toastie

              Have you ever fancied a toasted sandwich but couldn't be bothered to get the sandwich toaster out. Well I sometimes enjoy a toasted sandwich at lunchtime and have invested in some toastabags produced by JML, that is John Mills Limited. I bought a packet of 4 for £3.99 from Woolsworths before it closed down, but I have seen them advertised on the internet for less. They were apparently featured on a Dragon's Den programme.
              The packet is white and yellow and is like a slimline wallet. Once opened the packet contains 4 light brown rectangular bags about 18cm by 16cm Each bag has an opening at the top measuring about 1cm by 21/2 cm so that you can easily remove the bag from the toaster, as of course it will be hot. They are so easy to use, you just make a sandwich as normal and then pop it in the toastabag and pop it in the toaster. In no time at all, you have a delicious toastie sandwich. Not only can these very useful bags be used to for sandwiches they can also, be used for pizza slices, fish fingers, bacon, burgers, chicken fillets but you do have to pop the toaster down a few times to make sure they are cooked thoroughly. As microwaves can make some foods soggy and ovens take too long by the time you have heated them up, they are ideal for a quick and easy snack. In fact, they can be used to heat food up like pasties, sauage rolls etc.
              They can be used up to 100 times each and are dishwasher safe. I tend to wash mine with hot soapy water and then rinse very well. Inside the packet is also a recipe book which has recipes for Tuna Medley, Bacon Brunch, Pawn and Avocado and many more, although I must admit I haven't used any of them yet.
              However, a word of warning they get very hot - so allow some time for the bag to cool before removing from the toaster. Never use liquids in them. Wash thorouhly after use. Designed to use in a variable width slot type toaster if used in an oridinary then use thin sliced bread and compress the sandwich after palcing it in the bag. They are quick and hassle free.
              This review is also on Ciao.

                Toasted sandwich bags

                I love toasted sandwiches but a few months back my sandwich toaster expired and to be honest it was not used often enough to justify a replacement, plus it was extra cleaning whenever we used it with a tendency to give off fumes and smoke when the edges of the sandwich burnt.

                You get two in a packet and as I got mine from Poundland I guess you can work out the price, they are also sold in Lakeland but are more expensive. They are easy to use,just pop your sandwich in the bag, seal it and then drop it in the toaster on a normal setting, they are excellent with cheese and am as the cheese melts nicely and the sandwiches are nice and hot.

                They are easy to clean and you just pop them into the washing up bowl with the plates and then rinse the out afterwards, just be careful they are kept away from any sharp objects in the water so that they do not get punctured.

                I have been using my initial purchase for the past three months and so far they are still going strong, they are made from a brown non stck material and it seems pretty hard wearing and to be honest iven the price they are geat, just don't do what a friend of mine did, buy them and then realise the toaster slots are too narrow for two slices of bread and a filling to fit in.

                  Advantages

                  Disadvantages

                  Great toasted bags

                  Toastabags are the best if you wanted to have a nice chesse and ham toasted. I bought mine from the 99p store you can buy these in lots of places now.

                  When I got mine I had 2 in a packet so I left one in the kitchen and the other one went into my bag for work. They are great if you want a nice toasted at work. When I went into work with it every one wanted to get some.

                  What can you have in them:
                  You can put in any thing you want in the bags I love putting in cheese and ham I also like cheese and tomato in it.

                  Can you wash them:
                  Every time I use my toasted bag I just wash it up and leave it to dry. You can also put it in the dishwasher. It takes me about 30 seconds to wash it up.

                  Bad Points:
                  Sometimes the cheese inside dont fully melt down properly. When i Have one I put it in for about 1 minute then i turn it upside down and i found that mine melt a bit better.

                  What I think about the toasted bags:
                  I think that the toasted bags are great because i can put any think i want. A lot of my friends have tryed mine and they had to go out and buy some.

                  It take me about 2 to 3 minutes to make a toasted which is great if you are on a lunch break and have to have something quick.

                  The toastabags I got are light brown in colour and they are the standard size for sliced loaves. They are made of a highly non-stick material called PTFE. The ones I got you can re-used them about 300 times.

                  If you love toasted i would go out and buy yourself some because they are one of the best things i bought.

                  You can get them in Poundland, ebay, boots and a lot of other places the price can vary considerably depending upon where you go.

                  I would give these toasted bags 10 out of 10 because they are really great.

                  Thanks For Reading

                    William Wordsworth would have loved them!!

                    Toastabags
                    ========

                    I wandered lonely as a cloud,
                    that floats on high o'er vales and slags,
                    when all at once I saw crowd,
                    A host of golden toastabags;
                    Beside the cake, beneath the cheese,
                    Fighting for supremacy near the peas.

                    Continuous as the stars that shine
                    I twinkled past the milky way,
                    for they stretched in never-ending line
                    Along the aisle of the bay;
                    Two thousand saw I at a glance,
                    All in a row - and not by chance.

                    The cakes beside them waved; but they
                    Out-did the gorgeous cakes in glee:
                    A shopper just HAD to pay,
                    for such a toastie company:
                    I gazed--and gazed--but little thought
                    what wealth the toastabags would brought:

                    Now oft, when on my couch I lie
                    In hunger or in pensive mood,
                    Toastabags flash upon my inward eye
                    which is the bliss of solitude;
                    and then my tum with toasties fills,
                    And I crunch among the daffodils.

                    TOASTABAGS - THE REAL REVIEW!

                    ===
                    I spotted these bags in Asda for £1.99.

                    Do they do the job?
                    =============
                    Surprisingly they make great toasted sandwiches quickly and easily...and I really have enjoyed all my toasted sandwiches that I've made.

                    Why not just grill your sandwich or use a sandwich toasting machine?
                    ===========================================
                    Without a doubt, the one thing I hate about the normal sandwich toasters is that they do make a mess (fillings often oooze out the sides) and you're left spending 5 minutes cleaning everything up. By contrast, the toastabags are an absolute breeze to clean - and take less than 20 seconds to wash through properly!

                    Secondly at my work we only have a toaster - no grill to hand - so this product enables me to have some nice hot food when there are limited facilities.

                    Bag Description
                    ===========
                    The bags are light golden brown in colour - and in my experience are just the right size for most standard sliced loaves and toasters. They have little handles cut into the bags so it's easy to take the bag out of the toaster within seconds of it popping up. I've not burnt myself once!!

                    Best of all they're totally re-usable. Simply clean or put in the dishwasher and let them dry - then they're fine to use again and again. The manufacturers do put a limit on the number of uses though by mentioning "Use each bag up to 100 times".

                    They also come in packs of two - so I keep one at home and the other at work. (Note: Some of my work colleagues have borrowed my 'work' one - and have now bought their own for home use after being suitably impressed).

                    The bag itself measures 18cm high x 16cm long (or 7" high x 6.25" long).

                    What are the bags made from?
                    ====================
                    They definitely have flame retardant properties as the toast can burn but the bags remain just fine. You are able to see a fine woven structure if you look closely - but as to what they're actually made from I don't know. It appears the manufacturers are keeping quiet - as all I can see on the packet is PTFE nonstick.

                    What can you put in a Toastabag?
                    =======================
                    Pretty much anything you want! You can make a toasted sandwich with any ingredient you desire - or (as it says on the packet) "you can heat up pastries, pizza slices, chicken nuggets and more!" unquote.

                    Personally I've not been amazingly innovative with my choice of toasted sandwiches to date i.e. cheese ...cheese with chilli and tomato pickle...cheese and ham...cheese and tomato...ummm....cheese... :-)

                    The box does however come with over 20 handly recipe suggestions. My favourite which I've yet to try is:

                    Apple Pie & Custard
                    Spread one piece of bread with Apple pie filling, sprinkle on cinnamon to taste. Spread one side of the other slice with ready-made custard. Make up the sandwich, place in the toastabag and toast.

                    Any bad points?
                    ===========
                    I have noticed that if I cut the cheese into chunks (not deliberate...often the sharp knife at work goes missing when the boss gets depressed) then the chunks don't always fully melt down properly. I don't like my toast well toasted so I go with the lumps or put it in the microwave for 10 seconds to really melt down - but if I wanted browner toast then it would probably do the job! Most receipes say to toast for 3 minutes - so in fairness I've only been toasting for 2!

                    What I like most about this product
                    =========================
                    I just like the fact that I haven't got to waste more than 20 seconds cleaning up the toastabag - and I'm pleased to relieve the monotony of my normal 'work' sandwiches with something hot!!

                    Are there similar products on the market - and how do they compare?
                    ============================================
                    I've not tried similar products - but I do know that you can purchase a box of twin black bags as shown in the photo above (rather than the golden brown ones) which you can use up to 300 times (rather than 100 times). The ones I have are made of thinner material apparently.

                    There are also clear bags available from a different manufacturer - which potentially makes it easier to see if the food is "done" and shows better if you haven't cleaned it properly.

                    My Marks
                    =====
                    Ease of use 10/10
                    Flexibility of this product versus a sandwich toasting machine 10/10
                    Perfection of toasted sandwich compared to a toasting machine 8/10
                    Value for money 10/10

                    To sum up: Great for a quick snack when you want something with a bit more umph than a plain cold sandwich!!

                      Advantages

                      Disadvantages

                      Well worth risking 99p to give it a try.

                      Reusable toastabags are a really useful product, particularly if you have a teenage son who is always looking for something to eat.

                      There seem to be several different manufacturers of these bags and the ones i bought come in a pack of two and claim to be reusable for 300 times. Price? Well I have seen them at anything from 99p to £7.99 but to be fair I think the quality varies and some come as singles. I paid £4.97 for two and they seem good quality so I think that was a fair price.

                      I bought my first packet for my daughter who is away at university and very fond of a quick toastie, particularly if the alternative is cooking or an ordinary sandwich. When her younger brother saw them he liked the look of them so I had to buy a second pack.

                      They couldn't be easier to use, just make your sandwich and pop it in the bag. The bag goes in your toaster, the only problem is if your toaster is a fixed width it might be a tight squeeze. Approx 3 minutes later you have a tasty hot sandwich. Just watch you don't burn your fingers.

                      I used to have a toasted sandwich maker but I didn't like the greasing of the toaster which made the sandwich greasy and I also hate gadgets sitting all round the kitchen. By the time you have your kettle, toaster, George Foreman grill, Vegetable steamer etc on the counter there just isn't space for you to use. Why not put them away? Well I am assuming you don't live with two teenagers if you are asking that question.

                      I can recommend this product, its not expensive, doesn't take up much space and gives you a nice toasted sandwich when you fancy something tasty.

                        Advantages

                        Disadvantages

                        Cheat's way to a lovely toasted sandwich

                        For years I have been a fan of the humble toasted sandwich - and used to possess a sandwich press which produced wonderful sandwiches but also a terrible mess.

                        These devices require the bread to have some form of grease on the outer side which means your sandwich has an unhealthy addition to the usual cheese and tomato.

                        I dispensed with my sandwich press some years ago and had reverted therefore to the healthier method of toasting under the grill and then pressing both sides together when the cheese had melted. However there is one downside to this method - its slow as you have to wait for the grill to heat up and toast both sides separately.

                        Browsing my local Instore I discovered these bags which seemed to me to be offering something that was too good to be true - make your toasted sandwiches in the toaster!

                        However my love of toasties took over and I decided to take the plunge, and parted with 99p for a pack of 2 bags. Even if this experiment were to be a disaster, at that price I wasn't going to complain!

                        The bags are black and have a hole at the top, which is to enable you to safely remove the sandwich from the toaster.

                        To make your toastie, you simply construct your sandwich and place it inside the bag, then toast for about 3 minutes and voila - you have a toastie! It really is that simple.

                        However there are a couple of caveats. Firstly, the bags are designed to be used in a toaster which has a setting to vary the width of the item you are toasting in it. If you have a toaster with a fixed width setting, you will either have to make sure you press your sandwich close together once its inside the bag, or you won't be able to use it.

                        My toaster has a fixed width setting but I do find I can use the bags so long as I press everything firmly together.

                        You may also have to use trial and error to find the correct setting on your toaster for this to work properly. When I first used the bags I had it set at a higher temperature and ended up with burnt bread and so much smoke in the kitchen I feared the smoke alarm would go off. Using a lower setting the next time helped - for your information I opted this time for the middle setting of 3 out of 6.

                        The bags are designed to be re-used 300 times and are easy to clean, being made of a highly non-stick material called PTFE. They are even dishwasher safe - I have cleaned mine several times in the dishwasher and can vouch for this.

                        I was very impressed with the results I got from the toastabags and have been quite diligent in recommending them to all my family and friends.

                        I have seen versions of these bags for sale in many stores, including Lakeland and Poundland and the price can vary considerably depending upon where you go, but I would also imagine the quality will vary too. I have used the Poundland version and found them to be fine however.

                        However if you love toasted sandwiches and want a cheaper, healthier and quicker alternative to the toasted sandwich press, this is the thing for you!

                          Advantages

                          Disadvantages

                          great way to make convenient snacks

                          These black, teflon style bags are designed for making toasted sandwiches in a normal toaster. They cost us £4.99 from a shop called Robert Dyas in Chippenham for a pack of 2, and the same pack sells on the toastabags website for £4.88 so I think it's safe to say they sell around the £5 mark. They claim to be usable for 300 uses. We've used ours around 30 times so far with no signs of wear or tear.

                          We bought them because we have a problem with mice. This makes the toaster a problem as no matter how many times you shake a toaster upside down, crumbs still fall when you turn it the right way up meaning you have to sweep the floor or wipe the surface again! The toastabags mean all our crumbs are kept out of the toaster and can be tipped out of the bag into the bin after use. These work for this purpose but they are hot to handle after toasting and it can be a bit of a rush to manage to get the toast out and buttered while it's still piping without singing fingertips, not that I can complain as it's not what the bags are designed for.

                          The purpose is to make toasted sandwiches. I have attempted a few, including pizza pitta pockets for my son. They work well, outside crispy inside melted and gooey, all mess in the bag tipped into bin.

                          The bags are dishwasher friendly - they've been through ours on a warm cycle with no indication of anything adverse happening, but can also be washed with warm soapy water.

                          They say they can also be used to reheat pizza slices, chicken nuggets, bacon etc but as we haven't used them for that I can't comment yet!

                            Advantages

                            Disadvantages

                            Handy little product that does the job

                            I read some excellent reviews about this on a forum that I go to, so decided to give it a go. I got the bags on my weekly online Tesco shop for £1.99, it comes as a pack of two. As expected, the bags are slightly larger than an average slice of bread and have a waxy, nonstick coating on it. Each bag can be used upto 50 times.

                            It didn't look like it could hold much in the way of bread thickness but I was surprised as I managed to easily fit in a sandwich of lettuce, peppers, cheese, tomato and cucumber on slices of average thickness. Slightly pressed the sandwich down and it also slotted in without any problem on my fixed-width toaster.

                            The cheese melts perfectly and the bread is toasted to just the right amount. It is however different from a sandwich maker in that the edges don't get sealed. Cheese spills in the bag however cleans easily.

                            This bag is very handy if you take a packed lunch to work. Just prepare the sandwich and take it in your toastabag. Pop it in the toaster at work at lunchtime and hey presto, warm toasties. It also helps avoid getting traces of other people's sandwich fillings in your food!
