Every kitchen needs a few plastic storage boxes to keep food fresh, and one of my favourite sets is the Tu Klip Lock Storage set, which I initially purchased some months ago when my boyfriend needed a new lunch box. The set cost me £12, and being Tu branded, which is Sainsburys exclusive, is naturally only available from the Sainsburys store or website.

There are 5 different sizes of box in the kit. The 4.6l, 900ml, and 450ml sizes are all rectangular, whereas the smaller 300ml and 140ml are both square. The boxes can be stored nesting, so needn't take up too much space in the cupboard. If full, with them all having flat lids they can be stacked on top of each other is you wish.

The boxes are clear, as are the lids, though they do have a little blue silicone rubber trim. On each side of the lid is clear flap, with holes that allow the flap to clip tightly to the corresponding side on the container itself, locking the food in securely with the rubber trim creating an air and watertight seal. The 900ml box has been being used for several months now as my boyfriend lunchbox for work, and so far has never leaked, despite on occasion having several meals with sauce on inside, and even a thick soup on one occasion. The flaps are easy to secure, although they were a little stiff the first few uses.

The tubs are microwave safe, so I've been able to give my boyfriend leftovers to reheat for his lunch, and they are also dishwasher safe, though I don't have a dishwasher myself. I have found them very easy to wash up by hand though, and I've also found that unlike some cheaper containers, they don't stain when used to hold tomato based dishes.

Whilst the 900ml box has proven ideal for packed lunches, the two smaller ones have been useful for chopping up fruit to take in as part of the lunch too, whereas the largest of the boxes is being used as a teabag box, and the 450ml is generally used for storing leftover casserole of spaghetti sauce (the boxes are freezer safe too, so are ideal for this.) All the boxes are in regular use, and aside from one or two minor scratches from a fork in the lunchbox, the rest look as good as new!

I think at £12 these are excellent value. There are cheaper, similar containers out there, but I just haven't found the quality to be as good. Recommended!
