Wilko Washing Up Bowl
Advantages: cheap, hardwearing, serves its purpose
I moved into my house around 6 years ago and had to stock up on all the essentials including basics such as kitchenwares. Having to buy everything all at once on a tight budget, I opted for this Wilkinsons washing up bowl to try and save a bit of money. Costing just £1.00 for this silver coloured version, it is also available in other colours but for some reason they are more expensive and just under the £2.00 mark.
Colour - Platinum
Depth - 34cm, Height - 13.6cm, Width - 34cm
This washing up bowl has a square shape and fits neatly within my sink. My sink is pretty large and can hold a lot of water so it makes it more economical to use a washing up bowl when I'm cleaning my dishes as I can use a smaller amount of water. This bowls holds a maximum of 9.5 litres. It can seem a little small when I'm washing up larger items like saucepans or baking trays, but this isn't too much of a problem as I prefer to only wash one item at a time rather than stacking up a load in the bowl all at once and then losing bits of cutlery under the bubbles!
There are two raised sections on either side underneath which helps to keep the bowl steady and in place while in use without slipping around inside the sink. The bowl has a rolled edge at the top with two handle sections on either side. This makes it easy to pick up and carry around if needed. I primarily use this bowl just for washing my dishes, but I also fill it with hot water and use to clean my kitchen floor, and I move it around the room with me as I go. Obviously it can become very heavy when filled with water, but it is a strong bowl and capable of bearing quite a lot of weight when filled with water and cleaning products.
I've had this bowl for 6 years now and used it most days, so it's quite impressive that it is still in perfect condition! There are no marks or scratches showing on the plastic and it has not weakened or worn out in any areas. The bowl does get dirty through general use but it's easy to wipe down and get it clean again.
I can definitely recommend this washing up bowl as a simple piece of kitchenware that is practical and hardwearing. Excellent value at just £1.00.
Summary: An excellent value piece of kitchenware
