Advantages: very moisturising
Disadvantages: expensive
I have read many reviews about Creme de la Mer and they tend to focus on the price, unsubstantiated ingredients and difficulty of application. I agree that the price is quite hefty however you will find that a small pot does go a long way. This is because the cream is very thick (it will stay in the jar if you hold it upside down). The counter staff will tell you because of the thickness that you need to rub it in your fingers before applying it to your skin. You will also be told that this will release the miracle broth. I find that if you dab a few bits it on your face by the time you come to smooth it in you will find that the heat from your skin will have softened the cream. Also why not let the broth release itself on your face as opposed to your fingers? This application method will make it easier to smooth into your face. I would not recommend rubbing it in to your skin as this can subject the skin underneath to stress and actually cause more lines and wrinkles.
If your skin is oily then I would not necessarily recommend this cream as you may not need such a heavy cream. Although saying that my skin is combination and it has not caused any break outs on me (and I have been using it for over a year). Leaving aside the application method in terms of results, you will find that it does give your face a glow that will last a long time - most of the day in fact. I think this is due to the thickness of the cream. I also found that the dry areas of my face were no longer dry and remained moisturised all day. This was a first for me as I have used many different creams and although most creams promise this most do not deliver. If you have a very dry skin, your face will love this cream and I suspect, correct me if I am wrong, you will not need to apply anything else all day nor will your face feel tight later in the day. Admittedly I do use a serum underneath the cream. The reason for this is because although I am confident on the cream's ability to moisturise I am not sure if its technology matches modern day creams (which have moved on since it was developed). I therefore like to hedge my bets and pair a good moisturiser with a new technology serum. I am mid thirties and do not have any lines on my forehead nor around my eyes. I hope this is because of my regime and until I start to see things go downhill I will continue what I am doing. I would recommend this product
Summary: a little goes a long way - application tip
