Advantages: Expensive, Limited distribution

Disadvantages: Average product

For years I had heard and read about Creme de la Mer and all the miracles it was responsible for. For years I deliberated whether to take the plunge and actually try it for myself. I had been completely happy with Estee Lauder's Resilience Lift for years, so I really never saw a reason to stray from it.

Well, recently I decided to take the plunge and treat myself. I drove 60 miles to the closest store that carries CDLM (Neiman Marcus), walked around the cosmetics department for awhile, and mustered up the courage to approach the CDLM counter. The nicest lady was working behind it, and was more than eager to start showing me all the products in the line. After several minutes of her explaining how I should "treat myself", she had convinced me to buy the Serum ($175), the Lotion ($140), and the SPF 18 Fluid ($65). Needless to say, after dropping nearly $400 on three products, I went home expecting nothing less than a miracle.

Of course, she threw in a ton of samples: three containers of the creme and six packets of the eye creme (which retails for $100 per 1/2 ounce). Each eye creme packet had .05 ounces, which means she gave me $60 worth of eye creme samples, alone! The way she was touting the eye creme, I came very close to buying it as well. Thank God I didn't!

Well, I used the products religiously, day and night, for weeks. Did my skin feel nice? Yes. Did it feel well moisturized? Yes. Did it make my skin feel miraculous? No. Did it improve the dark circles under my eyes? No. In fact, I saw absolutely no visible improvement or change in my skin at all--nothing different than my $65 Resilience Lift.

I am 36 years old, and have taken regular care of my skin for the last 16 years. So, my skin is in very good condition for someone of my age. At this point in time, I wonder if those people who do experience miracles with CDLM simply never took care of their skin before using it. Otherwise, I
cannot imagine what miracles these people are talking about.

In retrospect, I am actually glad that the product did not produce miracles for me. I would hate to get addicted to a product that costs as much as this does. If I really wanted to, yes, I could afford to shell out $400 every 3 months for skincare--but I really did not want to. Still, it is so nice knowing that I can get the same results from a $65 bottle of Resilience Lift.

For those who do experience wonderful things with this product, I would love to hear your stories. But for myself, I was less than impressed.
