Advantages: great moisturizer, leaves skin looking healthy and radiant, lasts a long time
Disadvantages: expensive
I read the reviews on this web site before I decided to give la mer a try anyway. Most of the reviews, as you can see, are negative--quoting that the creme is just a waste of money and vaseline would have provided similar results. These reviews gave me serious doubts, especially since I have terrible skin--oily t-zone covered with acne, and peeling cheeks. I've used all the popular products--proactiv, benzoyl peroxide, retin-a...I even went to the dermatologist for oral and topical medicine for goodness' sake. None worked, and I just figured that after 2 years of trying various thing, it wouldn't hurt to try one more. So I started using the creme day and night, and I did tap the creme (I only used a pea's size each time) between my fingers to make it easier to pat into my skin. Unlike other users, I did not have any problem spreading the creme at all, and although there was a shiny layer afterwards, it did not bother me at night. (In the morning I just use loose powder to dust away the shine) There are additional steps that I have taken though: I use Neutrogena's Clear Pore Treatment night time clarifying gel and on the spot acne treatment before I use the creme at night. In the morning, I use Biotherm's moisturising gel for acne prone skin, then the creme, and then Neutrogena's skin tone on the spot acne wand. I also use Aveeno's skin clearing facial mousse--it is one of the gentlest facial wash around. After 3 weeks, all the zits cleared, and the acne scar also disappeared. My skin now glows and is blemish-free (thank God!). Overall, I think that the creme is definitely a good moisturizer, but you have to adjust other parts of your skin care to suit your skin type. If you have oily skin like I do, using la mer with acne treatment products can probably prevent the redness and peeling the usually occur with the use of such products. I was afraid that la mer would give more more pimples because it is not oi
l-free, but that was definitely not the case. I highly recommend this product--but just remember to use it in such a way that suits your skin type.
