About La Mer brand:
Crème de la Mer is Estée Lauder's signature product. It is a moisturizing cream containing fermented kelp. The product was originally developed by Max Huber who was a physicist for NASA to treat his severe chemical burns which he sustained in an accidental explosion during an experiment.
My point of view:
My mother always complains that she has quite a oily skin and that she can't find a proper product which will solve her problem. She tried various products, from cheap to expensive ones, but all of them caused irritations or left the skin in the same oily condition as it was before. I suggested my mother to try La Mer products. She likes the brand however she finds their products overpriced. So I decided to buy her this La Mer Oil Absorbing Tonic myself. I paid £65 for a 200 ml bottle and received the product in just three days. The products is filled in a solid glass bottle (does not break when falls down) with a silver lid.
How did my mother liked the product?
At the beginning she was quite unhappy that I paid such an amount just for a Face Tonic. However after few weeks of using it she called me, that this is the best skin product she ever used and that she already ordered a new bottle. The bottle lasted her about six weeks. According to her the Tonic absorbs very nice in the skin and leaves it very smooth. She said she could see the great results even after only few days of using it.
I definitely recommend this product. It made my mother very happy!
The La Mer Oil Absorbing Tonic is, as described by the brand, 'a skin cleanser which is used to reduce excess oil as well as increases moisture and rejuvenates the skin.'
It is £65 for a 200ml bottle, very pricey and not worth it in my opinion.
The ingredients are natural based and contain extracts of algae and other products relating to healthy freshness which are also plant/sea based.
The tonic is a watery runny texture of which is poured onto a face cloth and then rubbed all around the face, avoiding the eyes. It dries in naturally itself and has quite a subtle yet distinctive smell. It never fails to leave my face feeling soft, replenished and fresh, despite the flaws.
The bottle is very professional looking, it is very well made. It is glass but durable and strong: it won't break instantly if dropped. The edges are nice and curved and the top is a silvery metal colour, easy to press to get the liquid out but it doesn't let out too much, resulting in little waste. I just love displaying it on my dresser: it looks like something found backstage at the grammy's! It's very smart looking.
I have quite oily skin and I found this made a good difference but didn't really last longer than a couple of hours until it got oily again, regardless of whether I wore makeup or not, or whether I washed it off or left it on before applying makeup. It didn't impress me as much as I thought and found it very disappointing for the money I paid for it. I wouldn't buy it again.
In terms of refreshment and general cleansing it was very good though: I would recommend it to someone simply looking a good cleansing, moisturising product but it is quite pricey when you can get others on the market that do the same for over half less.
I was disappointed in this product overall and wouldn't buy it again. I've used the last of the bottle for general cleansing but I remain completely unimpressed regardless of what I modify to see if it will work better.
