Some months ago we were planning on doing a bit of decorating and DIY, we didn't have a ladder around the house so decided that before we started we really could do with one, we didn't want anything too expensive so had a look on the Tesco website hoping to use some of our vouchers. We came across the Abru 3 Tread Domestic Stepladder, it was ideal for what we wanted, it wasn't too big and bulky, it was light and was going to be suitable for carrying out DIY and decorating within out house.

The Abru Stepladder comes folded flat which is ideal for storing, we keep ours in the garage and when folded flat we can slide it into a small gap without it getting in the way. The ladder opens out to form an A shaped ladder with 2 rungs, above the two rungs is a platform for you to stand on with a large handle to hold onto, this actually forms part of the ladders frame but instead of stopping at the top of the ladder where the platform is it comes up one side of the platform and over to the other to form a large handle to hold onto whilst on the ladder.

The whole ladder is made from aluminium and has a shiny silver appearance, all four feet have black plastic covers on them which keeps the ladder stable and prevents it from slipping, where the rungs join the frame of the ladder there are also small plastic covers on the ends of the rungs which cover any sharp edges, again this is designed with safety in mind. AS I have mentioned the Abru Stepladder consists of 2 rungs and a larger square platform on top of the ladder, each of the rungs and the platform on top is made from the same aluminium but is textured, this is so that the areas where you stand are anti slip, this is very handy if you have been outside and then use the ladder and your shoes are a bit wet, the rougher textured rungs will help stop your feet from slipping on the metal, this does make the ladder rungs a little rough should you walk up it without anything on your feet but it does do a good job of preventing you from slipping.

When we purchased the ladder we didn't want anything too big and bulky or anything too heavy that was going to be difficult to move around, the Abru Stepladder measures 116cm (depth) 41cm (width) with a platform height of 0.58 Metres, this is from the bottom of the ladder to the top platform. Obviously the ladder isn't massive and not suitable for reaching extremely high objects, however for general domestic use within your house and for everyday DIY and decorating it is plenty high enough, my husband is over 6ft tall so generally doesn't have any problems reaching things when decorating and with the help of the step ladder he often only uses the first couple of steps, however I myself am not very tall at all but even I find I can easily reach what I need to within the house with the help of the ladder, it is just the right height for general domestic use.

The rungs are also of a decent size measuring 36cm (width) and approximately 14cm (depth) the space between each rung measure approximately 23cm, the rungs are slightly wider that what you would find on a larger ladder, however this is perfect for when using the ladder to decorate as it means you can comfortably stand on the rungs without them digging into your feet and without feeling like your feet are going to slip over the edge, the top platform is much wider and I find that you can easily stand on this with both feet without fear of them slipping over the edge.

When the Abru Ladder arrived I was pleased to discover that it was extremely light and weighs just 2.6kg (approximately) personally I like the fact that the ladder is so light as it means that it is easy for me to move around the house, whereas if the ladder had been large and heavy I would have to wait for my husband to move it every time I wanted to use it, but with its light and compact size I have no problems getting the ladder into the house and using it as and when I want.

As I have mentioned we bought our Abru 3 Tread Domestic Stepladder from Tesco, we purchased the ladder for around £20.00, the ladder is currently being sold on the Tesco website site for £19.77, this has some money off of it and should be sold at £21.97, personally I think this is an excellent price for this product, even when sold at full price I would say it is reasonably cheap. In my opinion the Abru Stepladder is definitely worth the money, despite it being light and compact it is also extremely strong and hard wearing, the ladder is very well made and can withstand being knocked around a bit as you carry out various work around your house, the ladder can take a maximum weight of 95kg's so for a light and compact ladder it is strong.

Overall I would definitely recommend the Abru 3 Tread Domestic Stepladder, it is reasonably cheap to buy and in my opinion worth the money. The ladder is strong, hardwearing and very well made. This is an ideal product to have around the house as it can be used for all domestic DIY and decorating projects, the ladder is only suitable for domestic use and this is clearly stated on the website. The ladder is compact so it will not take up too much room in your shed or garage and is extremely light to move around as and when you need to. The height of the ladder is perfect and just high enough to be able to comfortably carry out most tasks. The ladder is also very safe to use with a large handle to hold onto and the non slip rungs and platform, once in place the ladder is very sturdy with its non slip feet and does not wobble at all, you can use the ladder without having to worry about someone to hold it for you. Overall we have been extremely pleased with our Abru Stepladder and so far it has had a lot of use, I would certainly recommend this to anyone.
