I bought this Step Stool (I will probably drop into calling it a Step Ladder through my review) because it was on special offer at the time and the price had been dropped to £20 instead of the usual £43, it goes to show how expensive B&Q is though because I've seen these a few times since in other DIY stores and the highest price I've seen has been £28 anyway. I thought £20 was a good price when I compared the Stool to other three tred ladders and I was happy to pay it. It is sold folded up but is all in one piece so when I got home all I had to do was open the step ladder and it was ready for me to use, there's no assembling at all to do and that is always a good thing in my opinion.
The Step Stool has three steps and they have each got a rubber layer on them to make them non-slip, the feet are non-slip too and those are the important safety features when you buy any ladder for use in the house where you might have to use the ladder on all different floor surfaces. I've used our Abru Stool on carpet, laminate floor, lino and tile and at no time has it ever slid or moved so much as a millimetre either while I've been standing on it or when I step onto the bottom step.
The steps all feel strong and secure while I'm standing on them, they're all wide and deep so I always feel as though my feet are in a comfortable position and I'm not having to keep them still in case they fall off the end of the step. I used a more traditional styled step ladder a few months ago that had steps almost as slim as the rungs on a proper ladder and I felt like it took me a lot longer to finish the jobs I was doing because I had to keep stopping to adjust where my feet were positioned so they didn't slide off as I was stretching to do the work.
The top step is 141cm and each step is placed at regular spaces so you can use either or all of them, it doesn't matter if you only need to reach a few inches up because pulling out the step stool is so easy and straightforward that you might as well use it instead of having another standing-on item in the form of a small step. I would rather use the stool because if I'm standing on the bottom step I can use the top one to put things on so I can keep my hands free as I'm working.
