Lancome La Base Pro Perfecting Make-up Primer
by daniella2202

What Made Me Try this product?
------------------------------------
I have tried a number of primers and I was incredibly impressed with this one by Lancome. I am not really a huge Lancome fan but a friend of mine told me to try it one night we were getting ready together for a ... night out. She told me that she swopped using her pressed powder on top of her foundation for a primer underneath her foundation. I did not see how this was going to work for my excessively oily skin but it did!
----------------------------
How Does La Base Work?
----------------------------
La Base is a see through oil-free face perfecting primer. It can be used by itself after applying moisturising in the day or underneath foundation. It gives a beautifully smooth finish to the skin which by itself just gives a perfected look to the skin or if worn with foundation causes the foundation to adhere to the La Base causing it to glide on effortlessly. It is absorbed straight away. It prevents my foundation from looking patchy or unnatural. It has a technology called Elasto-Smooth which enables an immediate silky smooth effect which is non-greasy. It helps smooth out all sorts of imperfections such as fine lines, pores and signs of tiredness. It works very similarly to the Instant Perfector by Clinique and Clarins. However, I find that the Lancome one is more lightweight and blends more easily. I find that the Clarins one because it is thicker can cause makeup to not blend properly. La Base has light reflective pigments which further helps imperfections to look minimised. However, this does mean that in photographs your face can look a little white due to the light reflective pigments with the flash of the camera (which is not a good look!)
---------------------
La Base Packaging
---------------------
La Base comes in a silver box and the actual product in a see through glass narrow pump bottle. The pump is black. The bottle looks very elegant on my dressing table. However, because it is glass it is not great for travelling. When I last went away for a weekend, I filled up an empty pot I had with it to prevent any breakages.
---------------
My Thoughts?
---------------
I love it and what my friend said about no longer requiring a mattifying powder over the top of my foundation is true. It also allows my skin to breathe more easily without caking myself in powder all day long with additional touch ups. It additionally allows my skin to look dewy and radiant without looking oily which is a look I have been wishing for! Since wearing it I have actually been asked by several people what foundation I wear because it looks so natural. So it has to be La Base working its magic!!
------------------------------
Any problems with La Base
------------------------------
Yes there is one problem and this is the same problem that I had with the Mac primer. If you lightly drop the bottle (for example, onto carpet so it does not break) the product inside goes a little bit strange. It is hard to explain but the product almost separates. Luckily this particular bottle has not fully separated only the top layer of it and it has not seemed to have made a difference to its application or finish. However, my Mac one separated completely and came out of the tube all bitty and horrible so it could no longer be used. I am just praying I do not lightly drop this product again or else I think it will go like the Mac product and that would be a huge waste of money. The reason I am comparing it to the Mac primer in this instance is because they are both see through primers with similar textures however, the Mac one I found completely useless as a product anyway.

Price and Where to Buy
--------------------------
This product can be bought from the Lancome website or from department stores such as, House of Fraser, Debenhams or John Lewis where Lancome is stocked. Additionally some independent stores and Boots stores sell Lancome products. La Base is a 25ml and is £26.00. This is by far the most expensive primer I have ever bought so I am so pleased that it has done what it says it does!! Plus the 25ml seems to be lasting quite well!

Overall

A must-have for anybody with oily skin or for somebody who finds their makeup does not last throughout the day or for somebody who would like to disguise pores and fine lines. Read the complete review |

Lancome Clarifying Cleansing Fluid
by angelboouk
Lancome is a premium beauty brand offering skin, body, make up and fragrance lines.
*Cleansing Fluid*
Lancome offer various cleansing products in gel, water and fluid form. This review discusses the Clarifying and Cleansing Fluid.
This cleanser is suitable for all skin types and has been dermatologically ... tested. When applied over the skin with a cotton bud, the cleanser should remove all traces of make up (mascara, lipstick, foundation etc) and leave your face cleansed.
*Design*
This cleanser is presented in a tall, chunky plastic bottle. The bottle is white with various pieces of information about the product adorning it. The fluid is dispensed through a pump dispenser. The bottle can be recycled.
*Price*
This cleanser is available in a 200ml size and is priced around the £20.00 mark. It can be purchased at Lancome counters and online through www.boots.co.uk.
*My Thoughts*
I have tried numerous cleansers over the past few years and normally prefer a wash off cleanser to ensure my skin is squeaky clean. I received a 50ml bottle of this Clarifying and Cleansing Fluid during a Lancome gift with purchase promotion. This is an ideal way to try out products before commiting to the expensive prices of the full sized products.
Cleansing is the first step of my daily routine and I also cleanse at night. I use a toner and moisturiser afterwards and tend to vary which brands I use to suit my needs. My skin is sensitive and dry so I need to watch what I am using. Given the price of this cleanser, I expected miracles but was left deeply disappointed and most certainly shall not be making a purchase of the 200ml bottle.
*Coming Up Smelling Of Roses...*
I don't mind a scent in a cleanser but when it comes to using products on my eyes, I prefer them to be unscented. On opening my bottle of cleanser, there is a strong, sickly floral smell much like roses. I hate it but with my first use, I kept an open mind, The cleanser is white and has quite a thin, runny lotion consistency
Using this in the morning when applying to a bare face, it isn't too bad nor is it brilliant. I pour a tiny amount onto a cotton pad and smooth it across my skin. The cleanser doesn't need to be wiped off. It does refresh my skin to a certain degree but the scent is hard to accommodate. My skin doesn't feel fully clean until I've carried on and used a toner. The cleanser does nothing for dry areas nor does it make them worse.
The main point of this product is to cleanse the face and rid it off dirt and make up. It doesn't work very well in this respect. It removes the surface powder and blush that I wear but after continuing with a toner, I can still see some make up on the pad (I don't cake make up on either). I tried this once to remove my eye make up. Never again! Lancome claim this fluid is gentle on the eye but it nipped like a bugger and despite it's runny consistency, it was still too thick a product to manipulate around my eyes.
It didn't effectively remove eye make up and irritated my eyes and the scent didn't help matters. Personally I would rather use an unscented wipe or my Clinique eye make up remover fluid as these products are more effective and less harsh. Using this cleanser to dissolve lipstick is a no go as the flowery smell lingers and tastes rotten!
*Conclusion*
I do not like this cleanser from Lancome. There is too much scent added to it and it simply doesn't work very well on my skin. It isn't worth the high price tag no matter how long the bottle lasts. A 50ml bottle lasts around 20 applications but either way, I cannot recommend it.
