Lancôme Juicy Tubes
Advantages: Excellent lip service
Disadvantages: Price & Pomp
Juicy Tubes is a lip gloss made by French super cosmetics giant Lancome. You can get them at the beauty counter in department stores, various larger Boots stores (who have a Lancome counter) and even on aeroplanes, should you have a sudden desire for juicy lips. Oh and the usual online standbys, Amazon, ebay etc etc.
They first came to my attention a few years ago, all the fashion and beauty magazines were raving about how wonderful they were, handbag essentials, blah blah blah. All that pomp and circumstance put me right off though. Not to mention the price! They retail at £14.00 on the Lancome site. Incredible. Now, I'm sure you can get a better price on line, or wait for sales in the stores, but this seems rather OTT.
So, I didn't buy mine, my lovely mamma came to visit with a small goodie bag from Lancome, she had bought a couple of products and so got a free gift, that she thoughtfully passed on to me. As to be expected I wasn't keen really. Most lip glosses I have tried are overly sticky, sickly and actually dry out my lips. But, I told myself to cast aside these preconceptions! Give it a fair go. Grow up missy.
Since this is a sample the tube is much smaller than the regular 15ml, and doesn't have all the usual flashing as you see in the picture... it didn't even tell me what flavour I had! The leaflet inside told me I would have Fraise or Lychee. Going by the vivid cerise colour I'm confident I have Fraise. According to the website Lychee is a pale lilac colour. Now, I am only going on colour and not taste or smell because...
I find the smell to be sweet and pleasant, but not over powering, and not really like strawberries either. Hey ho. The taste is again easy on the palate, and sweet, but not like strawberries.
Texture-wise I think it is good, it is fairly thick, but not cloying. It is sticky, but acceptably so, my hair hasn't stuck to my lips (sinful) and my tongue doesn't feel like it is coated in a layer of ecoslime. I squeeze it out of a small hole in a simple applicator, the applicator is slanted to help you to apply. This is OK, you do have to squeeze quite hard and I've used more comfortable applicators, I prefer a soft wand type personally, this is a little plasticy and hard.
Fraise is one of the colours that had little bits of sparkle in it too. This has a pretty effect and I believe that the glitter also distorts the light, creating an optical illusion of larger, lusher lips. Lucky me. This colour is one of the darker, more intense shades and does leave a nice red sheen to my lips that goes well with my normal make up, and adds some glamour to my usual look, since I never wear lipstick.
However, I've left the best until last... I've only applied this twice in the last 3 days. My lips are flake free and wonderfully kissable. The best lip conditioner that I have ever found, I am a convert and would pay anything for this now. I can cease my hunt for a beautiful, successful lip treat.
Summary: So, so, reccomended
