Usually when it comes to protecting your laptop you have the choice of a laptop bag and a laptop 'skin'. The Port Beirut Laptop Carrying Case is a mixture of the two, offering the benefits of both the aforementioned alternatives. This was one of those typical Amazon purchases, something I came across whilst browsing their huge range of products. Priced at around £12 it wasn't particularly expensive and I am always looking for new ways to store my laptop away either for in the house or whilst I am out and about.

First impressions were that the case looking pretty smart in its plain black colour. The design is clearly well thought out and made of polyester. To the top edge of the carrying case is a strong and robust handle which gives both confidence in its construction and comfort whilst carrying it around. I don't store a lot of weight in the case, but if you are carrying it around on a journey it is nice to have a comfortable carrying handle. Although the plain black design may not suit some people, I like the fact it is quite discreet, and althought there is no hiding the fact there is a laptop in the case it doesn't draw immediate attention.

The carrying case is designed to accommodate laptops with a 16" screen and mine fits in neatly as it measures in at 15.6". The fit isn't too snug, but also isn't too big and therefore prevents it from rattling around in a large area and potentially damaging it. The carrying case has room to store other items internally, and has safety straps to hold the laptop firmly in place. Inside the case there is room to store documents, with a pocket on the opposite side to the laptop in this clamshell case. The zip runs round three sides of the case, allowing you to get good accessibility to the main compartment, there is also a pocket to the front of the carrying case for further storage if you so desire. I like to use the internal compartment much more, though, and often only carry items such as an optical mouse and a few papers.

The case comes with a carrying strap which gives you the option to carry it on your shoulder and adds a further safety element. You can clip or un-clip this strap, so you don't need to leave it attached if you don't require its use. Everything about the case gives me confidence that it is built to last. Although it is very affordably priced it has still been designed very well and I love the layout of the internal store space. Weighing around half of 1kg it isn't very heavy, but it has stood up to wear and tear, whereas in the past I have had cases that scuff very easily and give no confidence in the protection they offer my laptop.
