IBM Thinkpad X20 2660:
... bought the X20 second hand some years ago as my first laptop... I was not disappointed despite its age! IBM certainly made their Thinkpads to last. Mine is 7 years old and has been bashed about more than I care to mention, yet it continues to work beautifully. Into the bargain you also get Cardbus, CompactFlash and 2 USB 1.1 slots. Fujitsu Siemens Esprimo Mobile V5515 ... came to own a Fujitsu Siemens Esprimo Mobile V5515 laptop after my previous laptop died on me quite spectacularly and the insurance company decided that a replacement was more economical. At the time, the V5515 was a new release so I was very content with my new twinkly laptop and it s specifications. The laptop features a Pentium Dual Core 1.86GHz processor, 1GB RAM, 120GB hard drive, DVD/CD re-writer, Mirage 3+ graphics card and Vista operating system, to name but a few. The specifications mean that you can happily surf the internet, use word processing suites and store photos whilst still having a good, fast system. Apple MacBook MB402B/A ... have owned this Macbook for 18 months now and aside from a few niggles it s a great laptop. For me the battery life is amazing, despite the processor heavy things I do I can get an easy four hours out of it, much more on a low backlight and non intensive tasks. My problems with it are that as I bought the white Macbook, it gets dirty really really easily - where I place my palms and on the touch pad are a dirty yellowing colour, and I know this is a common problem amongst white Mac owners. It is time consuming to clean and therefore it looks grubby most of the time - I need to get it cleaned and buy a protector, which is a bit irritating. As far as usage goes, it works ... The price of the new model has soared compared to these plastic models, but it is probably worth paying the extra considering what I am about to say of these models: From the day I bought this Macbook I had reservations over its build quality. I have several Macs and other Apple products, and the white plastic Macbook simply isn t up to Apple s usual standards.
