Dell Inspiron 6400 Extreme ... is not caused by the wireless device itself as it runs perfectly for my housemates. I really like the media shortcut buttons at the front of the notebook which include mute, volume control, pause, back and forward. These allow quick and easy access to functions of media player. I tend to only use the notebook around the home so I feel that with my lifestyle, the weight of the notebook is not a problem however people who use it in transit may disagree. I should also mention that the notebook came installed with a lot of programs which I felt irrelevant to my lifestyle such as Roxy DVD and numerous internet connection software, amongst others. Apple PowerBook G4 ... for a good price second hand. I've used mine for academic work - typing essays, papers etc and frequent graphical work in Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign etc. It's true that compared with modern computers, the processor is now outclassed, and I generally try to keep my high-end graphics work to other machines, but as a day to day laptop the Powerbook is superb. Don't be fooled by Apple announcing that the Macbook Air is the greatest compact laptop either - thinness is not the most important dimension in a latop. The 12" Powerbook is basically the same size as a US 'letter' piece of paper, meaning it slips inside your bag with ease, and still gets jealous gazes ... Toshiba Tecra A9 ... laptop works the way any XP laptop would, and is good for word processing, internet browsing, listening to music and watching DVDs. The laptop has a good processor, and lots of memory, so can cope with multiple programs and games being opened at the same time. The battery life of the laptop is very good, and easily lasts longer than any of my flat-mates laptops. The laptop is slightly chunkier and heavier than others, but feels very well made - one example of this is that the screen doesn't ripple when pressed at the back like others do.
