Acer Aspire 9815WKHi ... operate of a windows system so there's not much difference there but the Acer software can really come in handy. I can back up my stuff onto a second hard drive, encrypt or twiddle with its performance and battery life which make a really good customisable laptop. The price is quite reasonable for what you get as well and the customer service is quite unbeatable. So as a Acer fan I really recommend any model of their Aspire series specially this one with its Intel duo and the possibility of having up to 4 Gb of ram. Acer Extensa 5610-101G12 ... you are just typing then you can set processor speed to minimum, lower the brightness of the monitor and switch off other power hungry features such as the wireless LAN. The computer comes with built in wireless LAN (using SignalUp(TM) technology, whatever that means...) and also a built in mic so you can look like an idiot and talk to the computer should the need take you. The speakers are the usual laptoppy sort that aren't that good but do the job, and you get other gismos like a memory card reader, firewire, four USB slots and plenty of other sockety things that I don't really understand. Asus A6T AP005H ... been waiting 7 weeks, and still no laptop. No engineers come out for repairs, so you are without a machine for ages, which is not good if you need it for work. Not something I had checked out before I bought it, wish i had now. In comparision, my husband bought a Dell, and when he had a problem the engineer comes out the next working day and is repaired on the spot, unless it is not repairable, and a replacement is sent out within a couple of days. Very poor in my opinion, the on board sound is naff, had so many problems with it. also the machine is covered in stickers that leave horrible marks on the machine and it scratches very easily.
