HP Pavilion dv5052EA ... solid middle of the road laptop provides users with a safe if slow computing experience. This is clearly not a powerhouse computer. Neither the technology, nor the specifications are ground breaking but that s would you would expect for the money. The 1GB RAM struggles to keep up sometimes but the undemanding Windows XP does not tax it too often unless you like to have dozens of windows open whilst running a full virus scan. In layman s terms this laptop does the job but if you expect it to run your PC games to a high standard you will be disappointed. Sony Vaio N38E/W ... a laptop!, reliable and fast, and has such a big harddrive considering its size. The screen seems massive when you open it and the memory is very good. But i don t seem to have my dvd writer running for some reason. It just doesnt seem to be able to finalize the disc properly so be wary. In terms of use, i ve never had a problem with it, be sure to clean or defrag the hard-drive quite regularly before anything bad happens to it, i.e. the blue screen of death, which is what i got after 2 years! Toshiba Satellite Pro L300-155 ... never owned or really wanted to own a lapotop I received this as part of the AOL internet promotion. Initially I was sceptical as to its performance and for it to be given away for free I was worried it wouldnt be able to perform to the level I required. How wrong I was. I have found its hardware components more than capable of dealing with anything I require it to do, be it listening to music, creating cds, editing images or general internet usage. The laptop is fitted with a built in webcam and speaker that I often use with skype to contact friends and family overseas.
