Apple iBook G4 ... bought my G4 iBook almost 4 years ago and it is still going strong. That says something about the build of the machine, it s durability and usability. In that whole time I have only ever had one real problem with the machine, and that was when iTunes decided to crash. All it meant was that I had to restore my music collection by copying it back into iTunes from the hard drive music library. Sure, not exactly a fun thing to do but definitely nowhere near the problems that I ve had with PCs in the past. I have only ever caught one virus, and even now I m not actually sure it was a virus, given how rare Mac viruses are. Basically it just meant that my video streaming onli... Compaq Evo Notebook N410c ... ROBUST, its so strong, after a few drops, only scratches, one crack on the back but it suffered from a high fall on concrete, but still runs the same, no new noise introduced, no new anoyances (if thats a word?) lol This thing is TINY, so small that newer mini laptops that are expensive because of their mobility would find this to be competition. the diagnal measure of the whole system corner to corner is just about 12 " which is small. It is very quiet, near silent until the fan spins up every 20 minutes to regulate cooling on mine. upgrade path is limited to more hard drive space and more RAM. the 256mb models would have one slot left for another RAM stick.... Acer Aspire 1400LC ... to statistics I booted WINDOWS more than 12.000 times during the last 2.5 years. Developing software, running product demos, all kind of project activities, book keeping, e-mail and travelling around the world. This laptop runs 12-16 hours a day as the apache server of my home network. It cost me 1450,- Euros originally including a 256MB memory upgrade. I spent another 145,- Euros for a second battery pack. Loading the one while using the other. After four years both quit their availability. Which is a really good result. Around age 5 the loudspeakers started cranking. I think the hot and also wet climate in Asia is to blame. Personally I am not disappointed in 5 yea...
