Fujitsu Siemens Amilo Pi 2515:
... is a very good-value laptop. It is relatively inexpensive, at about £550, but comes with a good feature set, reasonably fast dual-core Intel processor (1.8 GHz), but the 2GB of RAM means it will actually run surprising fast with some more memory intensive software (e.g. photo-editing software). It also comes with a large disk drive (minimum 120 GB but larger ones are also available) It seems robust and well-made... Apple MacBook MB061B/B ... Macbook looks great and quite different and is better made than many other machines with similar specifications. In white, which is the standard/cheaper option it looks very different from your average laptop. If you prefer Mac OSX rather than a Windows operating system I would certainly recommend it. I am a fan of unix, which is the underlying operating system for all Macs (i.e. the layer of software below Mac OSX) which is very accessible through a Terminal window, but this is probably irrelevant for most users. HP Compaq Business Notebook Nc4010 ... I am typing this review on my NC4010 so it definitely has the basics features you need when it comes to internet surfing and basic office tasks. Firstly, I should probably point out that it isn t the newest, star-spangled model available. I bought mine second hand from a well known auction site for about £120. Dell Inspiron 1525 ... Dell Inspiron 1525 ~~*~~*~~ Whilst the demise of any electrical object is always a sad occasion - I felt my laptop was a personal friend and thus when it developed serious motherboard malfunction, I decided that I would purchase a new friend for the old laptop (rather like obtaining a new puppy when old yellow s on his way out) and transfer the information before it was lost in the electrical ether. The search for my new best friend began - luckily, my other half works in IT (I have no idea what this job title entails but he knows stuff about computers) and I learnt quite a lot - mostly that if I wanted a laptop for £300 it was probably going to be shit.
