Toshiba Satellite Pro L40-12S ... bought this laptop after the screen went on my Sony Vaio. I spent £1100 on the previous one and it was crocked plus it had a broken hinge. So I looked for a new lowish end one in case it didn t last. Overall the laptop feels good and works well. I had it upgraded to 1 GB RAM which I am glad of as it is using MS Vista and I think 1GB is the lowest that works at all well. The screen is good and keypad feels right (better than the Viao for my part). The lid has agood amount of friction which allows it to open fairly easily but stay exactly where you put it. Sony Vaio FS215E ... laptop has got to be the best for the price. The built in wireless card is the best I ve seen to date. No lagging or temporary disconnects around other electronic equipment at all. I ve had many laptops and this one stays connected no matter what. Everthing else is as advertised, the screen is sharp and the hard drive doesn t keep you waiting periodically when surfing for big files. Start up time is about average and the only thing this laptop doesn t excell at. Over all for the money this laptop is the only one that fits everybody. Dell Inspiron 6400 Essential ... must say, I was skeptical about Dell before purchasing my Inspiron 6400 two or so years ago. I d heard many bad things, and from what I d read Dell was seen as being in league with the devil (or perhaps CEO Michael Dell IS the devil, who knows?). However, having recently moved on to a more powerful, modern laptop I now feel I am in a fair positon to say that this reputation is almost completely unfounded. My 6400 was never the most powerful thing, with a very basic graphics card, only 1Gb of RAM and generally average specs it couldn t handle most modern games too well for example.
