Dell Vostro 1500 ... ve had my Dell Vostro 1500 for about 2 years now- I bought it through work and got a great price of £380 on it. The price included a lot of free extras, which at the time made it an amazing buy: it has bluetooth, dvd/rw, 2GB ram, a dual-core 1.5GHZ intel processor, and a GF 8400MS graphics card, making it more than enough laptop for my needs, and all loaded onto a copy of Windows Vista Business. I predominantly use my laptop for the internet and word processing (being a student) but I also use it for guitar recording with a Line6 toneport and it handles it with aplomb. Medion Akoya Mini E1210 ... lightweight net book at a reasonable price, processing is occasionally slow but usually very good. It has a decent size hard drive and RAM as well as having built in wireless and a reasonable battery life even during heavy usage. Also there are lots of USB ports and a memory card slot on the side which are very useful. However the main downside is that it doesn t have a CD/DVD drive although one of these can be purchased for around £30. When watching TV shows through 4OD occasionally the screen would go blank and it wouldn t respond but this could be rectified by putting it into hibernation mode and then coming out of it. HP Pavilion dv5052EA ... solid middle of the road laptop provides users with a safe if slow computing experience. This is clearly not a powerhouse computer. Neither the technology, nor the specifications are ground breaking but that s would you would expect for the money. The 1GB RAM struggles to keep up sometimes but the undemanding Windows XP does not tax it too often unless you like to have dozens of windows open whilst running a full virus scan. In layman s terms this laptop does the job but if you expect it to run your PC games to a high standard you will be disappointed.
