... was my first ever laptop and was bought really cheaply, that said it was fantastic. It looks fairly slick but can be a bit heavy and clumbersome however it was really hardwearing surviving a couple of drops and knocks. Advent 7108 ... bought this laptop for the reasonable price of £399 in late 2006 from PC World. At the time, it was one of the cheapest laptops on the market and has a reasonable spec considering the price at the time. It seemed to me to be enough for what I needed - internet and MS office. I have found this laptop to be an excellent basic model. I have used it almost daily for over 2 1/2 years, albeit for the more everyday functions, e.g. internet browsing, word processing, working from home, Itunes etc. I have never had any major problems, except a virus, but this was not the fault of the laptop, and it did recover well. Fujitsu Siemens Esprimo Mobile V5535 ... got given this laptop after a family member had upgraded to a newer model. i find that its very easy to set up and run im not a huge fan of laptops or computers as i havent got a clue but this one was easy to understand. i must admit its a bit slow and i need things doing very fast so that is a downside. also it does crash alot when you try to do more than one thing at a time. however it does store my music ok and play ok only problem for me is the volume isnt great and sounds quiet to me. this laptop also gets very warm very quickly and has burnt me many a time and after it does this it tends to crash. the wireless adapter isnt great for the price and compared to other... Acer Aspire 5315 ... me just under £300 this is one of the few laptops on the market with quality at a low price. It s quick to load, can handle numerous products running simulateneously and comes with vista pre-installed. One downside of this laptop is the rather poor tactic of the fans being positioned underneath the laoptop. Basically; leave it running for a few hours on a surface and it ll overheat and cut out. I d suggest if you buy this laptop you get a cooling pad (cheap enough on amazon) and you shouldn t have a problem.
