... i m going to try not to be too harsh on this laptop, but i feel like i have to... I have had it for just over 2 years, and in total the graphics card has died 3 times and the case has cracked (in the exact same place) 2 times. I ve sent it back twive for repairs but now it is just out of warranty, and honestly it is so much hassle, i will have to buy a new leptop. The design flaws are pretty huge in this laptop ... Apple MacBook Pro MB986B/A ... a long-term user of Windows, from its earliest days until XP, I thought it time for a change. I had already tried Linux (Ubuntu) but found it user-unfriendly for an average person like myself. I decided to give Apple a try and at the same time move from a desktop PC to a laptop. Although the Macbook Pro 17 was tempting, I decided on the 15 inch version for its portability. It was not a cheap option and initially I wondered whether I should have merely upgraded my PC to Windows 7. Acer Aspire 5920G ... is the best budget value laptop I have seen in a while. Acer, who are becoming more reliable, and popular and selling this machine ridiculously cheap. With a good sized screen, the machine copes well with a good processor, intel core 2 duo, and with more than enough RAM to run windows vista premium edition. This however can be upgraded if needed in future, with a new RAM memory for about £20 per GB. The hard disk has 250GB memory, but after windows being loaded on etc, it comes to about 238GB. Still more than enough though. However, like myself who almost got caught out, making a back up disk is essential. I recommend that this is the first thing you should do out of ... Dell Inspiron 1545 ... bought this laptop as I needed one to start university with, and thus bought it based on price, and its relative portability. Not being a gamer myself, or having any particularly high requirements in terms of processing, I have found this laptop completely adequate for the basic studenty purposes of word processing, surfing the internet and watching films. The battery length is good, and the screen offers a decent definition. My main niggle is the keyboard, which has offered me a couple of little problems already, despite its only being 3 months old.
