Advantages: FAST,RELIABLE AND PORTABLE, GOOD VALUE FOR MONEY, GREAT DESKTOP REPLACEMENT
Disadvantages: LARGER HARD DRIVE WOULD BE NICE
This acer aspire laptop is definitley the perfect replacement for a home desktop system.I decided to downsize my desktop pc 9 months ago and havent regreted it since.I bought one of these laptops direct from the manufacturers website for about 700 pounds and in my local pc store i was quoted around £950.thats quite a saving!
This model hosts an AMD xp-mobile 2600 + processer which is reliable and in my opinion as good as a pentium 4(though notr as fast). The screen is of great quality the battery will power the system for about 2 hours.
I use m laptop for a variety of operations, audio recording, downloading converting video and my internet buissness and when i bought a laptop i was expecting some sort of limitations but i couldnt have been more wrong, this has opened up more avenues because of the portability.
The system hosts hotkeys along the top of the keyboard for launching applications and checking email etc.and there is also a key for shutdown. It has a standard laptop keyboard that is slightly different to a standard keyboard but it only took a short while to get used to.
The touchpard works really well although i did need to update the drivers recently under the windows update process. The feature that is a necessity to me is the dvd/cdrw drive which hasnt failed a cd yet like my previous drive in my desktop computer which failed about one in every ten.
There is some bundled software provided with the computer such as NTI cd and dvd maker which is easy to use and understand, also there was a free trail of norton antivirus which i have continued as it seems to be the best about and gives me updates every 3 days.
Because i use so many different usb devices was another reason i bought this particular laptop. There are 4 usb 2.0 ports and a firewire port for a camcorder. There is also an s-video for a tv out to a television and a serial port for an external monitor. As far as sound goes there is a built in line out which also acts as a headphone socket and a line in as well.
So as you see this is a real good all rounder laptop for the price.Although i bought this model 9 months ago for 700 pounds you can now get a more up to date model for the same money.

- 12/11/04 Welcome to Dooyoo.
A few tips to get you started on the site: Although there's no limit on the amount of reviews you can post it's better to post just three a day then you'll find you get more reads. If you read and rate around the site you'll soon find out what should be included in a review plus you'll get known to other members which will result in them reading things that you post.
It’s always a good idea to write your reviews as though you are writing for someone who has never heard of the product, that way you’ll cover everything. Also it’s best to write your review in Microsoft Word and run a spellchecker before posting onto the site.
You can ask any of the guides for help with any aspect of the site and a list of all the guides can be found here http://www.dooyoo.co.uk/c ommunity/_page/advice_gui des/. They will do everything they can to help with your query.
Lastly you can sign up for your own guest book at http://www.crosswordcheat s.com/tooyoo/ where you can chat with other Dooyoo members.
Above all I hope you enjoy it here and have fun :O) Sara
