Advantages: lots

Disadvantages: touch pad mouse

Well I have only had my laptop for a few weeks, but I really wanted one for work. As I work on online bingo I was always stuck sat at my pc, so I got this laptop as I thought it was good value for money and it looked really nice also.

Now when I first switched my laptop on once I took it out of the box, it did initially take a while to start up, I had to enter my windows update disc to get it to start. That was all too easy, so away I went starting to get used to my laptop, when I finished I closed my lid without turning it off.

Now when I went back to it later I lifted the lid up by sliding the easy catch across and pulling up. The screen started flickering and I could not do anything with it, so I took the battery out and switched it back on.

Well I was not paying all that money for that to happen, so I took it back to the shop that replaced it for me. So I tried again, but yet again the same thing happened. I actually went and spoke to someone who has a laptop and they said theirs does the same thing, and that it’s due to windows vista been faulty. So if yours does do this DO NOT BLAME THE LAPTOP.

Well enough of the start of my experience with my laptop and on with the product loll.

The Acer aspire comes installed with Acer Empowering Technology. This is a toolbar that makes it easy for you to access frequently used functions and to manage your laptop. It provides access to the following utilities:

* Acer enet management
* Acer epower management
* Acer epresentation management
* Acer edatasecurity management
* Acer elock management
* Acer erecovery management
* Acer esettings management

Now I could bore you with what all these do, but all I will say is they are very much needed on your laptop and you would find full details of each function in your instruction manual.

The laptop has a LCD display screen, which is just over 15in in size, it comes with a built in web cam, which means no wires running from your web cam to your comp as their normally is loll.

The only thing I did find hard to get used to was the touch pad mouse, as if you click it on something twice it will perform the operation that you was wanting it to do. It’s pretty sensitive to touch so you have to be careful with it. I have been informed that you can buy a proper mouse for your laptop but I haven’t looked into that yet.

When I bought my laptop I was top Microsoft works was on it, although when I got it home there was no sign of works or a disc for it, but luckily I had Microsoft office 2007, which I do prefer to works anyway, but you may want to check before you buy that you definitely do receive it.

Along the front of you laptop you have:

* Speakers - Left and right
* Blue tooth device
* Wireless communication indicator
* Power indicator
* Battery indicator
* CIR receiver
* Microphone in jack
* Line-in jack
* Headphones hole
* Latch that locks your lid

As before all the functions of these are listed in the instruction manual.

I wont bore you with all the specifications or you will fall asleep, as there is that many loll. So I am just going to go onto my personal thoughts about the laptop.

I do think this was good value for money although with the problems with windows vista you should be able to downgrade to XP. Although this is not a major problem and in no way affects my enjoyment of my laptop.

This laptop is really just like using a PC. Only difference is that you can move rooms with it loll.

There is a battery life icon on the bottom of your screen; this shows you the percentage of battery life left and how long this will last. You also receive a pop up message when you only have 10 minutes battery life left. This is a great thing for me, as I can’t have my battery running out in the middle of work loll.

I have also watched dvd's, well the first time I tried my sound would not come on, I checked my volume at the bottom of the screen that was ok loll, so I had a little play about trying to get it on eventually I clicked on a little bar on the windows player and hey presto the sound came on loll.

So really so far I have not found one thing wrong with the Acer and if I had another choice I would still stick with the same one, its so easy to use the only thing is I am definitely going to have to see if I can buy a mouse for it as using the touch pad is hard to get used to loll.

This has a 1200 MB memory, which is currently higher that the actual pc I own loll. It also has pretty fast speeds at downloads and things and also loading WebPages. It is certainly a lot better and faster than my pc I use. So it comes highly recommended.

Thx all for reading I hope you found this helpful xxxx
