Advantages: Easy to use recovery system for those who need it.

Disadvantages: The recovery partition uses up half the hard drive.

I tend to favour Acer laptops for their reliability. The laptops I've had in the past have never let me down and so far, this one hasn't either.
I've not had it long so I can't make grand statements about it, but thus far my experience with this one is very good.
The screen is bright and vibrant and can still be seen in average daylight.
The lid closes firmly and the whole build quality seems quite nice. I don't carry it around anywhere, but would imagine you could do so and not worry about its robustness.
The keyboard feels firm and springy and typing on it feels quite nice.
This unit comes with all the usual ports and networking/bluetooth facilities you'd expect and I've had no problems with any of them.
One slight bug bear I have is that the hard drive is split into two parts, one for your use (including the operating system) and the other for drive recovery. This means that out of a 250gb hard drive you can only really expect to be able to use 125gb. Even if you burn your own recovery discs (the unit doesn't come with any), you can't delete the recovery partition and use the space yourself.
Its not a bad laptop assuming you get a massive hard drive with it.
I've enjoyed using it and its handled all my software programs without a hitch.

Summary: Never had a problem with Acer, no exception here.
