Advantages: Seems very fast

Disadvantages: None really so far, minor glitch where screen remains black

I'm not very technically minded, but as the specs for the machine are mentioned above, I thought I'd give a personal experience of this laptop.

I bought this laptop a few weeks ago for just over 300 pounds from Amazon, and as usual, they delivered the computer in super-fast time, just 12 hours from the purchase being made.

I really like this computer, which I was told was being sold reduced because it has HD-DVD instead of blu-ray, the latter of which is now the recognised new format. This wasn't a problem for me as I have no real reason to use these enhanced DVDs, I'm entirely happy just with normal DVDs, which this computer plays without problems. If I ever need blu-ray, I'll have to save up for a Playstation 3!

The computer has 2GB of RAM, and I've found this to be more than enough for the computer to run quickly and effectively. I've installed the software I need, and I've had no problems with speed, or any difficulties at all with the machine other than one small issue.

The only problem I've had on two occasions is that when going into standby mode the laptop screen goes black, and although you can hear that Windows has logged back on, it requires a restart to restore the computer. This is however a minor fault, and takes just seconds to deal with.

The in-built web-cam is very handy, and can be started just be going to the start menu. It can be quite frightening to suddenly see yourself on the screen though, especially if you're not looking your best!

The battery life is good, it lasts around 140 minutes for me, although this can probably be extended if you keep the brightness of the screen down. The laptop is also relatively light, so is very portable, as I've had "laptops" in the past that I haven't wanted to carry very far because of their weight.

I've had Acers in the past, and I've heard some people complain that they're a cheap computer make. Although it's true that their computers are often relatively cheap, I've never had a problem with the quality of an Acer, but I have had serious issues with numerous Sony Vaios. So sometimes the argument of you get what you pay for isn't really valid.

Overall, a very nice computer, although its white layout can look a little strange at first, this was no doubt because I've always had black laptops. The outside of the case is in shiny black, which makes the computer probably look more classy than it actually is!

However, overall, the computer appears to be very reliable, and well worth the money.

Summary: I'm becoming a big fan of Acer laptops!
