I have this as my current laptop and I was really contented with my purchase. The big feature has to be the touch screen. I can't say that I really use it that much though....touch screens are for tablets really...and it doesn't seem necessary to have a touch screen for a laptop. Using Onscreen keyboard in Windows 7 can be frustrating...so much so that it's quicker and easier to use the keyboard! The touch screen is responsive...but it's more the downfall of the operating system than the laptop itself as to why the functionality maybe isn't as good as it could be. Acer have packaged in a Touch Portal...which is a good concept but again I don't use...it allows you to browse the web by touch, to arrange CD collections, videos and pictures on your PC, view them as slideshows and a few other touch games. I feel this could be better, so as a result I don't use this at all.
But aside from that, this laptop performs really well. The 4GB RAM means that you can multitask effortlessly...the processor will complete tasks quickly and efficiently, the graphics card is ATI Radeon and of good quality for a laptop. I have played a few new PC games on my laptop and the graphical quality is good....not amazing but adequate...at least enough to run modern games if you aren't too fussy! There is 320GB on board which I've never come close to filling and a DVD-RW which seems fairly quick. It has HMDI output which I have found very useful for hooking up to the lounge TV for watching video. The battery life is also quite good too....I can get a good two hours of constant use out of it on the battery while the power level is set as "Power Saver" (which I find only really dims the screen and doesn't dent the performance particularly)
I think Acer have done it again....providing a quality laptop at an affordable price and I would definitely recommend that anyone who wants to do anything except high-end gaming should consider this for themselves!
Some people have a negative view of Acer laptops and believe that they do not have the software and features that can compete with other brands. I find this to be totally wrong. This Acer laptop is user friendly and has all the essential features and programmes needed. The screen is very big and clear meaning when watching shows and films on it , the picture is crisp and you get the full viewing experience. As well as this the speaker system is also premium , the settings can be easily altered and i find as a person who enjoys to listen to music alot that the sound is clear and not tinny and the volume is quite loud for a laptop.
There is also a battery save button which is always a plus as it only dulls the screens brightness slightly and yet the battery lasts from much longer. The keyboard i also found to be very good, as on many new laptops the keys can be too close together or small meaning typing at speed can be difficult, however the Acer aspire enures the keys are positioned perfectly.
