My parents purchased this laptop for me just before I started Uni, I was excited, It had that "clean" and fresh technology smell and feel, The HD screen was so bright and exotic compared to my old square screened DELL and I was happy.
It played most games to a reasonable quality and surfed the internet with ease displaying video in crystal clear HD. It came with Vista 32 home basic which had a few features, mainly windows sidebar, but was just the basic deal.
However as the months went on the loading times increased and it never seems to recover no matter what you de-frag or delete, but it still remained decently powerful and fast.
The sound is good quality from the bar shaped speaker above the keyboard but it never really got that high so I resorted to exterior speakers.
The battery life is pristine, about 2-4 hours if you have in on various settings, the large blue buttons indicate power and other features such as Wi-fi which gave it a futuristic feel and the buttons are thing and silent unlike older "clicky" keyboards.
I've only ever really had 2 problems with this machine, It's that random knocks will turn the laptop off and render it unconscious no matter what the force is, it could be a simple tap.
And 2, I read somewhere the keys "snap" off for easy cleaning, and i've learnt that's not the truth! poor poor semi-colon key =[
But overall this laptops my baby, I write to you still using it!
great value laptop loads for your money but, i`ve had this laptop about 3 months now and little things have started to happen i keep getting a funny little sound when i press certain keys the sounds aren`t normal and they are begining to annoy me i think that i`ll have to send it in for repair sooner rather than later also now and again the keys fall off you can be just be typing a letter and when you tap the key it falls off i put it down to the fact that things can get under the keys i regularly spray air ( canned air ) to remove dust crums etc. what i dislike the most is the repairs center the reason why i haven`t sent it off for repair sooner is cause its hard to understand i origionally bought it from tesco, to get a report logged you call tesco they forward you to acer helpline who then take your details and give you a number to call dhl for collection, so you call them and they tell you how to wrap up the laptop and what address to put on it any after about 5 attemps of listening to the call which is an 0870 number you finally understand the address, this has put me off acer`s the laptop itself is good fast reliable loads of features but acers customer service puts me off also the batter life is only about 40 mins for me
When we were looking for a new laptop, every shop we were in had a huge selection, it was for my girlfriend and all she really uses it for is the internet so we didn't want to spend too much. In the end we bought this laptop from Comet. It all seemed pretty good, descent spec for the money paid.. visually it looks very nice, gloss blue exterior with a matt grey interior, the wide screen seemed crystal clear. We paid £400 for this, without any anti virus, with Norton it would have been £450.
When we got it home and opened up the box, everything was as expected, just put the battery in and away you go. The laptop semed to load up very quickly and within ten minutes it was ready to use. The screen was as clear as it looked in the shops and was lovely and bright,
i have a 10 megapixel camera and viewing photos on screen is excellent.
Connectivity is very good with the four usb ports & hd out connections, also the sd card slot in the front saves carrying cables about to connect the camera.
The battery life is very good, will easily do three hours constant use surfing the internet. Charge time is around 90minutes from 0-100%
The only one drawback i have found is that the keyboard set up isnt as easy as other computers, when i first got the machine i seemed to be making a lot of spelling errors, now i'm used to its fine. just not as easy to jump straight onto as some others i have had.
Overall a nice laptop for the money, if you are like us and just use it for the internet & the odd word document then its spot on!
I bought this laptop to take with me to university, its a nice size and not too heavy to carry about with you. It looks the part as well with its nice gloss blue finish on the outside casing and matt finish around the keyboard so it wont show all the dirty marks. It was very easy to set up straight out of the box and i easily installed windows 7 as an upgrade. The laptop is very quick at booting up and shutting down. It really is good if you like to press the button and not wait around for too long for it too boot up. My favourite feature though is the crystal clear widescreen. It has great picture quality and is really easy to see and great for videos. The sound quality compliments this perfectly with the dolby home theatre system that sounds great. The webcam also gives a very good picture and is great for the likes of MSN and works well without freezing up. Overall it was a great buy and next time I buy a laptop i will look for the upgrade of this one. I seriously do recommend this laptop.
Having hunted about for a good deal with the best memory and hard drive for my money i fell on to this laptop.
It was so easy to plug in and charge and ready to go very quickly.
The processor is good and i have no problem working on serveral things at once.
The inbuilt wireless connection makes it easy to hook up to your existing wireless routers or connections
There is a crystal eye camera which is easy to use and give a good quality image even in poor light, great if you like chatting online.
A powersave options means you can enjoy surfing for longer without the fear of the battery running out.
It also features a Dolby Home Theatre....a feature i hadn't noticed when buying, the image and sound quality totally surpassed all my expectations.
A sticker on the laptop says it plays blue ray, a feature i have yet to check out as i have been surfing the sales.
For those who like a bit of technolgy, it has a backup manager for saving your files to a second location and HDMI...i believe for hooking up to your tv. It comes with Acer Arcade Deluxe for playing your DVD, making movies and looking at photos etc.....superb and easy to use.
Highly recomend it as good spec for your money......i did crack a smashing deal with mine...£380 in the sale but even just over the 400 mark it wouold still be worth it.
