I have a really bad track record of breaking technology, countless phones have been in alcoholic beverages, toilets, baths, headphones have been broken about 100+ times and I am no stranger to breaking laptops either, I was without any sort of computer or laptop for over a year because I broke my first laptop and everyone refused to let me use their computers too in case I broke them. For Christmas 2009 my dad decided he'd finally buy me one as a present and we both decided on this little notebook because it was cheaper to replace and I would take it around with me easier than a normal laptop like I used to do.

Now this Acer Aspire 5742Z will set you back around £250 but because of my track record, we bought an Argos refurbished version from the Argos outlet on Ebay at just £180. Of course a lot of people won't know hat refurbished means, this is when someone has purchased the item, but returned for no reason other than they don't like it, so naturally you cannot sell as new because it isn't, it is then sent back to Acer to be fully cleaned and wiped even if it hasn't been used and put to it's original settings, it is then put into it's original packaging and sold cheaper as a 'refurbished' laptop or notebook.

This is pretty standard any very similar to any of laptop really, it has the normal internet explorer on and all the system tools, when I got this is was filled with Microsoft programs, more than usual becausse this was one of the last laptops that came with windows XP rather than windows 7, which I'm quite happy about even though I don't use the majority of them. This is pretty quick, Internet explorer was getting a little slow so I downloaded google chrome and now the internet is up and running really fast with fat loading pages and items.

I can be downloading music and films on here at a really fast speed, I can download a full tv series within a couple of hours where as on my computer it can take up to a day.

I would recommend this for anyone whose mainly interested in just surfing the web as it's memory isn't the largest to hold lots of games such as world of warcraft.
