Acer Aspire 5750
Advantages: HDMI out, HD webcam,
Disadvantages: Plain aesthetics, low graphics
I have had many laptops over the past few years but this is the best by far. It has plenty of useful features such as an HD webcam, excellent battery life and card reader. I have found the built in HDMI out port extremely useful while watching movies on my laptop through my TV, you don't get a free HDMI lead with the laptop but these days most people with a flat screen TV or BluRay player have a spare cable lying around. I have found the laptop keeps up with me on most things i.e. surfing the web, watching movies, all the basic needs. I have even installed and played several games which should not have worked on a standard, built in laptop graphics card. It connects quickly and easily to my wi-fi, has a separate numerical keypad at the end of the standard keyboard (a main flaw in laptops if, like me, you enter a lot of numerical data for college or work) and so far I am liking Windows 7 and the new features it contains. There is no annoying delay when the machine starts up, of course this may vary depending which and how many programs you have running on the laptop. I would recommend this to most people looking for a good quality laptop but bear in mind the graphics are basic (as on most laptops) and may not support more modern gaming needs.
Summary: Overall great laptop for everyday needs
