Fair for the price, but no outstanding features.

Specific specifications of my model: 4GB RAM, Core i5 2450M 3.1GHz CPU, Nvidia Geforce GT630M GPU, 500GB hard drive.

Primarily, this laptop is particularly good at light tasks such as web browsing. Ample CPU power and memory allow a smooth experience while browsing and many browser applications, such as high definition streaming video.

The keyboard is pleasant to type on; as such, it can be well suited towards office application use. However, while it can do this, the 16:9 display can be somewhat ill-suited to this particular task due to the limited vertical workspace.

The touchpad is smooth but doesn''''t ''''stick'''' to the finger like some, and so is quite easy and accurate to use. Multi-touch support is included, and gestures can be defined in the control software, such as two-finger scrolling.

The display is adequate. It has a very cool colour which can give the impression of a pale blue tint over the image, which is exacerbated by the low viewing angle of the display. Additionally, dark images are quite difficult to see due to low contrast - a problem when playing dark games or watching movies. On the plus side, the image shown is sharp, even during motion. The display is glossy, and so very reflective.

The laptop is capable of heavier tasks; the CPU (Intel Core i5-2450M) is capable of heavy workloads such as video encoding, being able to encode 1080p high definition video at approximately 30fps.

Additionally, the dedicated video card allows the laptop to play 3D games. While low detail settings are the rule rather than the exception, it is generally able to maintain at least a consistent 30 frames per second at 720p resolution, in games such as Crysis 2. While not ideal, this allows a relatively smooth experience in all modern games.

The wireless connectivity is reliable and quite quick, and supports newer standards such as 300mbps N connectivity.

The spakers have little bass behind them, sounding quite tinny, and can be somewhat quiet, easily being drowned out by other noise sources. Thankfully, the system itself is quiet, the fan being disabled under low workloads.

The battery life is fairly good, allowing near 4 hours of continuous light use at the lowest screen brightness on the battery. By default, the dedicated video card is disabled until needed to save power.

During light use the laptop itself can become quiet warm. While not a massive issue in of itself, it does mean that it can become uncomfortable to use on the lap after extended use. Heavy workloads can cause the CPU and GPU temperatures in excess of 90 degrees celsius, heating the surface of the laptop up and making the keyboard uncomfortable to use due to the surface heating to over 40c.

Overall, the general impression of this laptop is that, for the price, it can offer fairly reasonable specifications and functionality. No particular aspects of the machine stand out above the others.

This is a laptop in which you get every bit of bang for you buck!

What can i say about the Acer 5755G? Well for starters it is a great piece of kit with some very good specs. I originally bought this laptop to complete everyday task such as completing assignments and browsing the web, and with 8GB of RAM i knew multitasking wasn't going to be a problem, but it's an absolute beast of a machine for the price! I can edit HD movie clips and photos using the adobe suite, and all without putting the system under any pressure, and thats thanks to its super quick quad core processor! I'm also in love with the fact that the 5755G can run many of the latest games, (That being on low to medium settings) due to the Nvidia GTX 540m. It's by no means the greatest graphics card for a laptop but it is capable of running Skyrim with textures set to Max between 30 - 45 FPS! And my i add it looks fantastic on the beautifully lit HD LED LCD screen. However be warned, when playing games and completing heavy task the battery will quickly deteriorate. Overall It's a very good laptop for the price and definitely one you should consider if looking for a good balance between price and performance!
