We bought the Acer Laptop off my dad when our computer died we didn't pay full price but we are more than happy with it and would have been happy to pay full price for it. The keyboard is very easy to type with - some laptop keys are too small to be comfortable - and the fact that it has a USB mouse and touchpad makes it diverse. The touchpad is so easy to use the only thing to watch is not to rest your fingers on it as it can double click occasionally if you press to hard.
The sound quality is excellent. We have watched movies on the laptop and is more than loud enough to enjoy comfortably. The surround sound is very good and is easy to control via a dial on the outside of the computer so no need to go into control panel.
The processor speed is not one of the fastest on the market but is more than adequate to play games on. We have Civilisation IV on here and it plays well. The battery also lasts a long time and has good warning before it runs out so you can plug in or save your work.
It comes with wireless internet and is easy to use. I would be very happy to recommend this to anyone.
I bought this laptop nearly a year ago for starting uni and found it for a good price in tesco (£379). I am really pleased with it and it has given me no real problems. 2GB of RAM is perfectly acceptable for general use, although it may struggle if you want to run some larger programs e.g. CAD. I really like the hotkeys on the right-hand side for controlling your music, although I would recommend going into the settings and turning the sensitivity down as they are quite easy to hit accidentally at the default setting.
The built-in speakers are good for personal use, I have found them to be louder than most laptops, and the quality is very good as well.
The hard disk space is fairly average for this range of laptop, and will suit most people unless they have very large collections of music or photos.
The battery life is one area which could be improved, I normally use the laptop with the highest brightness setting, and this really drains the battery meaning you are lucky to get an hour out of it most times.
The weight of the product is another issue worth mentioning. Compared to most laptops of a similar spec, it is quite heavy, but then you do generally get a higher spec for your money than most so it's not really a surprise that some elements of the design are sacrificed.
This is a very small thing, but I really like the keyboard on this laptop. I find it very easy to type on and use. The only downside is that it doesn't have a number pad at the side.
My old laptop died and I needed a new one. I searched through Amazon and the usual online shops and decided on this one.
The 2 gig RAM is enough for you to run several large aps at once, such as media player, dreamweaver, msn, IE all at the same time.
The webcam is brilliant, my friends can see me on skype full screen almost perfectly!!
The 160GB storage comes with only about 130GB for you to use, the rest is used for hibernation storage and if you wish to reformat.
Although the computer does run very smoothly, I have on a couple of occasions found all the pre installed Acer products to be very irritating, perhaps for the novice they will be useful, but to me they just take up extra memory and slow the computer down. It comes installed with norton(trial), which is a pain to remove, and also it comes with a microsoft word(trial) installed, both of which i uninstalled asap, as there are much better alternatives available for free (try open office).
The speakers on this laptop are incredible for a laptop, the sound is brilliant compaired to any laptop I have heard before.
The battery to me, (i run alot, usually running wifi, msn, paltalk,IE and music) seems average (around 1.5-2 hours on low brightness)
Don't get me wrong, the computer is fairly good, I am just wanting to make clear the worst things about it.
I bought it a year ago and I paid £450, which seems alot, but at the time it was a good deal. I would say it is great for the average person. And you won't be dissapointed with the overall product.
This is a great laptop. Really easy to use, fast, loads of storage room. The battery life last longer than people say it does! The interior on this laptop is amazing! Its so different to all the other laptops, which makes it stand out. The speakers ( dolby home theatre, virtual surround sound, subwoofer ) is great! I would definately recommend this laptop to others.
